Although I could act on this (along with your subsequent replies), I'll level with you. Why did you need to post this?

How is Sony blocking a major feature of a game which is supported by three other major gaming platforms (Switch, Xbox and PC) good for indie developers? VGC bans people who post facts now? Wow.

Hey! They got SONY on my amiibo! Wait a minute. Two great gaming tastes that game great together!

Because cross play is extremely important for indie developers?

Rocket League.

Oh sorry, I didnt know you were basing the fact that the developers of Rocket League represented the mindset of every developer.

I'm certain every indie dev is more  focused and excited that their game gets to be on a system.  And then if it suceeds then they can think about adding on cross play.  But cross play isn't important enough to be wanted it implimtent from the start.  The ony reason the devs of RL want cross play now is because it's becoming big.  If RL bombed then I doubt they'd care about adding cross play.

How does said fact tie into the topic? Is it relevant to the OP at all? The particular Indie dev we're talking about in here doesn't mention cross-play, so how's it relevant? If I'm missing something, educate me.

Psyonix is a indie developer. Fact.

The PS5 Exists.

The subject is about all indie developers, it just mentions one in particular, but clearly implies that Sony is the best company to talk to. Please dont get all butt hurt because Sony is getting to big for their own good again and the arrogance is starting to show. All of the big three have suffered from this at some point.

It's not blocking cross play. It's blocking Microsoft. There is a difference, Sony has been supporting cross play since PS3. It's quite remarkable that Phil Spencer is able to alter the way that people remember history, or how he can project one of their weaknesses onto Sony and make it seem like it's Sonys fault. (Oh, unlike other companies we announce and release our games within a short time frame...(this actually turned out false. Time to release vs announce is shorter on PlayStation)) or trying to tell people xo X is the only true 4K console...Then proceeds to show E3 trailers with checker board upscaling.

but anyway, Sony supports cross play. They have for a long time.

So you think that Sony not allowing cross-play is indicative of them not being easier to talk to or work with across the board?

That's like me saying my one phone call not going as well as I wanted it to with a customer service group means they don't deserve to win the "best customer care" awards they get every year.

Yes I'm sure MS is salivating at all the subs they'll "keep" thanks to cross platform Minecraft and Rocket League LOL.

Anyway this is a pretty negative spin done by a PlayStation fansite on an interview that wasn't really damning. Microsoft wasn't interested in their game, Sony was. They have a deal with Sony, I'd expect them to say good things about them. Microsoft killed it with indies last gen and were mostly mocked here for it. They showcased a ton at E3, just looks like one more ship Papa Phil is about to right. So hopefully in time all devs will have nothing but good things to say about all the companies.

Sony will never be bigger than Microsoft. MS got big by forcing companies to play on their terms. Crossplay sounds like the latest method to implement an EEE (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embrace,_extend_and_extinguish) strategy toward Sony to roll some of the market back their way. Not saying this is Microsoft's intent, but MS has a history that would make other companies leery of them, especially a rival. Sony may let their guard down and let it happen, but if they don't, there's a reason.

Crossplay isn't relevant to the topic at all, but I thought I would mention this since you brought it up.

I am not surprised, Sony treats their developers with a lot of respect.
