Forums - General Discussion - Netflix's awful match system

Which rating system do you prefer?

The original five star rating system 62 93.94%

The new thumbs up/down and matching system 4 6.06%

Total:66

I used Netflix for the first time in quite some time. I wanted to watch One Punch Man, so I figured I'd reopen my account.

Upon using it however, I realized the 5 star system is gone. Now, we only see thumbs up/down and this matching system with the accuracy of Shaq at the free throw line.

It's certainly far from the worst thing in the world, but I fail to understand their decision. The only idea I have is that they didn't want to have their original content be given bad reviews, so they got rid of them.

Yeah it's absolutely garbage ain't it

I don't know what they were thinking changing it to that, it's just terrible and there is apparently a big backlash of Netflix viewers that want it gone. It's like they've tried to do something different but it's just gone wrong. They have get rid of it it's terrible and doesn't work how they were hoping it would.

Add me if you want but let me know youre from this website

There is no way to sugarcoat this. This new system is shit.

I can see why it would bother some people. Me personally.....not fussed

The only time I ever rated anything with their star system, is if I thought something was really really awesome, and then I always gave it 5 stars. For everything else, I never bothered to rate it anyway, cus frankly it wasn't worth the extra clicks to do so imo. So really, all I was ever doing was giving a thumbs up to certain things even under the old system.

I stopped caring, because there are more important things in life to care about. Like mining sparks on Mixer.

I think they changed it because everyone was dumping on certain shows and people due to politics.

Such as Amy Schumer, or maybe she just sucks...

How does this effect your viewing? What am I reading?

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

This reminds me that Youtubes star system is also down. Man I missed that

It was definitely the latter. At least for her latest special.  Even people who normally like her were giving it 1 and 2 star ratings.  And really I think that's what ultimately led them to change, her complaining about her score to any media outlet that would listen and the media was all too happy  to push this as an anti-Trump thing.  It's pretty sad when celebrities' heads get so big they think even their shits are golden.  Maybe a few more box office bombs will humble her somewhat.

@ OP

No doubt about it, the new system sucks.  The 5 star was more accurate. Plus, if you didn't like the score a movie got, just rate it yourself and your rating is the one displayed.  Only people who are easily triggered would hate the 5 star system. The new system doesn't even show a like to dislike ratio, like on YouTube.
