I can't see it being on PS4 tbh

What makes you think this?

Market is more in lines with Nintendo. Like someone else stated you already have stuff taking up similar space like Ni No Kuni. Level 5 likea to pop these things out left and right and keep the budget low for the most part. So they wouldn't put resources into creating a ps4 level version and doing more work than they have to imo.

I see them playing it safe and keep it Nintendo for now and next game will be a Switch version. I feel its almost a no brainer that it will get noticed more on the Switch and get left behind in the shuffle on the ps4. Ps4 has more steady releases retail wise than Switch due to more third party. Yokai Watch would get lost in the shuffle and ultimate under perform because of it.

Whereas on Switch, there is occasional breathing room for games to slip in a release spot and get recognition because third parties do not come at the pace and speed as you would find on the ps4 or xb1, so it makes certain games more noticeable to people and stand out more

Around the Network

I can see it. If they want to expand the brand westward, they need to follow the steps of recent successes like MHW, Nier and Nioh. They can re-purpose Yokai Watch to a more traditional RPG (mirroring something along the lines of Ni no Kuni) and use that as the catalyst to expand. It'll work.

I thought Yo-kai Watch battle system require touchscreen?

Sure that market is better with Nintendo but the last few YW have waned on popularity. A jump on Switch only is not necessarily going to change that. NNK2 doesn't really take up the same space. Perhaps the 1st yes since that one actually focused on the creatures in the world, but NNK2 focuses on the actual characters. No real retread here between NNK2 and a new YW. I additionally think that Inazuma 11 perhaps proves otherwise that they wouldn't put in the effort into a PS4 version. That game doesn't look like it even comes close to taxing the PS4, and likewise something built for the Switch with its anime aesthetic would be fine enough with a resolution bump.

I cant deny the idea of YW maybe getting lost among the plethora of PS4 games but the reality is that every day it takes for YW to be released, that window of opportunity even on the Switch will lessen. I dont think visibility will be the problem as long as they actually market the game. Nier is a good example of this: being a sequel to a niche game and releasing the same day as Ghost Recon Wildlands, 4 days after the Switch launched, and a couple weeks before Mass Effect. It still did well.

I can see your point on Lvl5 playing it safe, but I think the success of games like DQ and now MH are pretty indicative that once Nintendo handheld strong games can actually thrive on non Nintendo consoles. The gamble to reinvent YW and put it on current market leader, and popular Switch, will be far more beneficial to them then playing it safe. Cause the latter isnt realistically going to do anything for them, especially once Pokemon is out.

If anything, releasing on the PS4 (in addition to the Switch) is arguably where the breathing space is.

We will see.
