If I wanted the best graphics I'd save up and get a gaming PC, but honestly the whole Triple A scene has really lost its appeal for me over the last few years, I'm kinda burned out on big bombastic blockbusters, while the indie scene generally isn't my cup of tea. I prefer that middle ground that games like Splatoon or ARMS occupy.

The beauty of a console though is you get great graphics for a great price.  like ps4 graphics are way better then switch yet it's cheaper to buy.  More money to spend on games.

You got burnt out out of the triple A scene.  I on the other hand got burnt out of cartoony games when I was around 12 and move onto more mature experiences.

Mature? Unless you're reffering to the label as in "meant for Mature audiences / rated M" I wouldn't say Sony has any title that is thematically mature besides The Last of Us. Not trying to downplay their exclusives but their maturity is pretty stereotypical.

a bit too limited, just like the switch stock

Realistically though, Nintendo has a lot of these scenarios where they think "oh xxx won't be the wave of the future! who cares! just forget the idea" and a LOT of the times they end up being wrong ...

however, I can't really say they're wrong here. Honestly. When they neglected to include true HD on the Wii, it affected the graphics and still sold really well. When the wii started a lot of people didn't have HD tv's, but as it kept going it was still selling. It did eventually have lifetime sales issues, but overall it was a success. Even more so, I think the Switch is less likely to need 4k than the Wii needed HD. The reason for this is mostly diminishing returns. 1080p switch games look soo good on TV i think most people won't care. And , with the handheld mode, there's even less reason for 4k. More so , it still is really early in 4k. I honestly only want 4k for PC ... and even then it's expensive

Oh definitely.  I grew up on the PS1 and loved cartoony games targeted at kids too.  I'd still play the odd one for the nostalgia such as the crash remaster next month but for the most part I've grown out of the kids games.

I wouldn't say Mario or Splatoon are "kid's games"; they're games for all ages, being kid-friendly doesn't stop adults enjoying them.

It's like saying Lego isn't for kids when it is.  I personally still really enjoy making Lego with my God son but it doesn't change the fact it's a kids game just because tons of adults enjoy it.

Same for Nintendo.  They make games mostly targeted at kids.  Lots of people will never grow out of those games and keep playing as adults.  Nothing wrong with it either.

Games like Mario and Splatoon aren't mostly targeted at kids though, they aimed just as much at adults. A huge portion of the core Nintendo fanbase are those who grew up in the 80s and 90s, a game like Odyssey is just as much for them as for those who are growing up now.

A better way of putting it would be saying they're kids games aimed at adults and kids.  Same as other things like Lego etc.

They're just games aimed at kids and adults.

I disagree.  Not many people get into cartoony games as adults.  Most start liking them as kids. I don't see many people who were not long term Nintendo fans suddenly getting into Mario, splatoon,  pokemon etc as adults.

Being accessible to kids does not mean focussed on kids. Adults are fully capable of enjoying light-hearted and colourful games, and millions do. The E rating stands for "Everyone". Nintendo's games are age-agnostic.

Agreed 100%

I feel like the Pro and X should be focussing on a greatly improved 1080p experience. This is coming from a consumer with a 4k tv.

Let the PS5 and Xb2 focus on 4k in 2019-20.
