Like it or not IGN is still the biggest game news website out there. No one can really stand up to them either. Gamespot or Kotaku may have had a chance but their site layout is honestly just too atrocious to be able to compete tbh.

And also like it or not, IGN does have some good reviewers and more importantly does a much better job covering news than the vast majority of other sites.  Honestly, the memetic hate for IGN is rather unrepresentative of the site.  I'm not saying it's fantastic, but it's nowhere near what people claim it is.
