Borderlands is my answer, too, especially BL2.  It has the character Gaige, which someone from Gearbox stupidly took heat for after saying she is a good "girlfriend" option, because he's exactly right.  You don't have to be all that skilled to play Gaige.  She summons a robot to tank for her so she can just blast away.  She even has an option for people with bad aim.

It's also a game with a lot of humor and a bit of romantic banter.

Got all those switch games. Rocketleague has been in the planning stage to buy for a long time, I do think I will pick it up on the Switch down the road though. The local multiplayer that it provides just might too much to skip. Not a fan of Broforce, Guacamelee we beat already and Resogun I've played a ton alone already

LBP3 might be a good one though, need to take a look at Alienation though. 

The last one we beat, loved that game. Gonna doubledip on the Switch as well!

We have this one, but locked behind the paywall called PS+ which I am currently not paying for... 

I loved playing as Gaige, too, and I hope she shows up again in the series.

Favorite was probably Maya, though.  Soldier is easy-mode in both games so maybe he's the "boyfriend" option.

You two should play some hardcore competitive games, see how strong your relationship is

1-2-Switch. I had so much fun playing it! It's an easy game for a non-gamer to pick up, and it's cheaper than usual as well.
