If I had a pound for every electronic device I have that froze and needed restarting I'd be a rich man. I mean Microsoft Windows when you have limited memory can slow down and practically freeze if you open too much software at the same time. I don't have a Switch but find Nintendo hardware in general just about the most stable hardware. I knocked my gamecube off a table once while pulling the game controller cable while it was reading a disc and despite the impact still carried on reading the game disc as if nothing had happened and I played the whole session with the gamecube at an angle with some of the vents covered by a cushion. I was too lazy to get up and move it.

Yeah I've had that black screen output bug once and also had a bug where the joycons just refused to pair up to the console, both times sorted with the long power button hold (I always think of that as holding a pillow over the consoles head) but yeah, started up and was fine, likely to be a fuck up with the OS.

If you do have the initial version of Minecraft installed make sure and run the software update check on Minecraft as that adds some nasty things into the OS such as fucking with the screenshot button while version 1.0 is installed (even when Minecraft is not running)

This has happened at least once to every console I have ever owned. It is rare (and should be) but it can happen to all consoles. I wouldn't worry about it.

If it does it all the time though, that is when I would start to worry.

Never had problems with my Switch. But yesterday my 3DS didn't respond to any input at all. Restarted it, the problem persisted. Went to the Nintendo website, it said I should check if the problem occurs only in certain games. No it didn't, so Nintendo said the device is broken. Holy hell, I thought! Luckily, after a few hours it worked again. I have no idea why. I just hope it doesn't happen again...

Have had my 3DS XL for almost 5 years now and I JUST had a similar experience for the first time the other night. Opened it up, dark screen, not responding to any inputs, not waking from sleep, couldn't restart it......panic sets in. Googling says that the system is dead and needs to be sent in. Ugh. Luckily, I messed around with the Wifi switch on the side and it awoke from sleep and everything was back to normal. I've wanted to upgrade to a NN3DSXL for awhile, but I still would have been sad to see it die that way.

No Switch for me yet, though. Maybe at the holidays, if I can get my hands on one.

It'll be awhile before I figure out how to do one of these. :P

No minecraft yet. Is minecraft now patched, or should I wait with it? Well, actually I'll not buy it for some more weeks, but I'm  interested so in the long run I'll probably bite.

This happens to my Wii U often. Almost always when I try to power it off at Smash 4's character select screen. I don't think it's harmful though.

"You should be banned. Youre clearly flaming the president and even his brother who you know nothing about. Dont be such a partisan hack"

My PS4 sometimes does that. I just hold the power button until it completely shuts down.

It's somewhat scary how often somethign like this seemingly happens to different devices. One should expect more from living in the third millenia.

Not yet with the console, but my default pair of Joy-Cons feels kind of... rough, especially the blue one. Each of time I attach the controllers to the console, they don't feel sturdy enough, and it's difficult to press the Minus button on the blue Joy-Con, as well taking it out from the Switch. I recently purchased the yellow pair, and I haven't had problems with it so far.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Yup the new version of it is the up to date once which actually appears as Software, the original version of it never actually showed up as Software but just as the 2GB save file, I think where it installed was somewhere into the system OS rather than where games were meant to go, hence it having an adverse effect on the Switch being able to take screenshots properly.
