Yesterday I wanted to play a session and realized my Switch never properly shut down from the previous one. I had a black screen, but it was lit, or in the dock the HDMI signal of a black screen was sent. If I pressed Power, a menu came up for Shutdown options, but it didn't actually shut down. I was a bit in the worry, searched the internet and found the solution: for every one running in such problems - hold power really long (more than ten seconds) and eventually it will shut down properly. After that it started up fine.

I have the Switch since launch, first time I had a problem. Gave me a scare.

It happened to me once. Turned it off by holding the power button and everything was fine.

I'm envious of it.

I don't have a Switch yet, but similar things happened to my Wii U.

Never had problems with my Switch. But yesterday my 3DS didn't respond to any input at all. Restarted it, the problem persisted. Went to the Nintendo website, it said I should check if the problem occurs only in certain games. No it didn't, so Nintendo said the device is broken. Holy hell, I thought! Luckily, after a few hours it worked again. I have no idea why. I just hope it doesn't happen again...

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

Yeah, me too. Happened exactly once so far.

I had that once in launch month, only other problem I've had was an issue where the JC's were responding despite being on it happened twice then never occurred again.

My Switch had a freak out like this the first week I got it, but no problems since. My Wii, Wii U, and even PS4/360 have locked up at times, too. So, it's nothing to worry about if it's a rare thing.
