Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will Fire Emblem Warriors on Switch outsell Hyrule Warriors on Wii U?

Which will sell more lifetime?

Hyrule Warriors (Wii U) 55 44.00%

Fire Emblem Warriors (Switch) 70 56.00%

Total:125

Im going to buy it.
But i cant see FEW passing HW. Zelda>FE

I think it's pretty clear that Zelda has more selling power than Fire Emblem, at least for now....

Maybe, but I don't think it will be easy. I'll probably pass and I'm picking up practically every major Switch release this year.

This is really a tough question. I tend to Fire Emblem Warriors because of the more popular platform, but as you said, Zelda is a big draw. I'm sure a remake Hyrule Warriors Legends for Switch would be destined to sell another million.

10 years greatest game event!

bets: [peak year] [+], [1], [2], [3], [4]

I'll go out on a limb and predict it won't just top HW, it will at least double it. I'm predicting 2.5m lifetime.

Fire Emblem has gotten more popular as of recent years, but its most popular entries haven't even broken the 2 million mark. Well, Fire Emblem Heroes may have given the franchise a lot of attention, but whether it actually translates into sales remains to be seen.

Have pre-orders even started yet for the game?

I WON A BET AGAINST AZUREN! WOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

:3

I think it will be close but i see it being on a more popular console slightly offsetting its lack of popularity compared to Zelda. Also, Nintendo seem to be really pushing this 1. I think it will eventually surpass HW but it will take years is my guess.

Based off things going the way they are this year... nope.

Aside from needing to get more Switch systems out there, I don't think the FE audience will gravitate to this game. The developer coming out and announcing how limited the game's character pool will be in terms of potential characters is similar to Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, on paper it makes sense to use the best selling and most popular games, but I think the FE fanbase having seen SO many games with those sets of characters or seen them plastered into so many games are not going to rush to such a game.

This seems like a Nintendo or Intelligent Systems thing with FE because the variety of sources used in Hyrule Warriors over time and the Dragon Quest games seems like the developers are more willing to experiment which not limiting their character pool to just three titles would allow, especially given the recent character polls for FE Heroes showed the most popular characters for either gender (Ike and Lyn) are not even in those games.

But I will digress, I hope it does well, but unlike Hyrule Warriors or the DQ Heroes games, this feels like less love is being paid to the overall property and in cases like that, while it will draw the hardcore Dynasty Warriors fan, average fans and those of the FE franchise might not buy.

Didn't realize that Hyrule Warriors did so well

I'm not sure, honestly. The Switch has potential but I can see it not selling that well. So for now I will go with yes

Is Tharja in it? I reckon she could raise a lot of people's interest. :P
