Hmm. Oh we'll see if ms is really for cross-play or not. That game would be on the 360 when it first came if ms allowed cross-play then.

That's easy then - shut down the PS4 version. Release it on Switch and Xbox One with cross-play between both and PC. And if Sony regrets and allows cross-play again. You can support that version again.

the game would be dead without ps4 version. it has hundreds of thousands subscribers. not many switch and xbox players would pay monthly fee to play mmo.

Nintendo and Microsoft seem to be open with crossplatform play, though I'm not sure how well the Switch would do to be able to play with other systems

This is the first article I've seen that speculates that Sony has some say.. I've not found one article or interview with Yoshida where he has said that Sony has any say in this. I see no evidence, Gamespot is writing BS.

Every year, the gaming media  always ask him the same question; "when will FFXIV come to Xbone?" and It's always the same answer; Yoshida: "We're trying to convince MS to meet our conditions." No double paywall, no separate servers.

Shit.. Goddamnit. How many times do I have to repeat the truth.

Well we are at a point where crossplay is really becoming a thing. Minecraft is the biggest title to do it.

Quite frankly, if youre a fan of crossplay then Sony is the bad guy right now regardless of what has happened in the past. Its amazing Nintendo is willing to do it but theyre also trying to make their online service a success.

Nintendo and microsoft would be all aboard but sony won't allow it so it wont leave the ps4 platform if this is the condition.

Yes as do other games on Sony platforms.  No one cared about that though until Microsoft started asking Sony to cross platform with them. 

 

I don't have an issue with cross platform play or know all the fine print of it.  Until I see where Microsoft is offering it free of charge no strings attached then I have no issues with Sony declining them.
