Forums - Nintendo Discussion - PES 2018 won’t be on Switch, but Konami open to supporting the system with future entries

Konami has ruled out Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 for Switch. However, the company seems open to bringing the series over in the future.

Global product and brand manager Adam Bhatti told Eurogamer:

“One thing that I will say about the Switch is, we’re getting asked that quite a lot. The fact is, we’ve announced all the platforms that PES 2018 is coming to. But as I’ve been saying to a lot of people, we have a great relationship with Nintendo – we’ve obviously brought out Bomberman which has done fantastic for the Switch. So as a company it’s a platform that we’re looking at, for sure. So for PES it’s just – we never want to say no, we never want to close the door. Let’s see how it goes. Personally speaking, I love the machine. We think it’s definitely performed amazingly well. And we really hope that it continues to do very well.”

Pro Evolution Soccer 2018’s assistant producer Kei Masuda also said: “We always like to hear what the fans think as well, depending on the amount of reactions we get then we definitely would like to look into it.”

Good to see they are open to release future entries. Some devs are actually listening and putting their games on Switch. I like this more honest approach.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Expected, they are waiting bigger instal base and to be sure that Switch will keep selling good. Thats goes same for most of other 3rd parties.

Someone tell Otter it is because Switch is not powerful enough. Business cannot be the reason here, right?

Translation: we just wanted to make sure the switch isn't a flop first but it's doing ok so ask again next year.

This. Most companies will wait for next year to see where the switch is at and decide wether to support or not. So it falls on nintendo to get the big 3rd party companies regain faith. Like they did with Bethesda and will do with ubisoft and EA.

And I still trust Konami to do it more than E.A's sports games

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

Considering that even on the 3ds it sells a lot worse than the Fifa games..... it´s not surprising at all. They will wait until there´s a bigger userbase for the system.

'Will make games for Switch when the install base is big enough

Expects the install base to grow without making games for it'

- All 3rd party game developers

Seems a good fit for the Switch. An engine that can be easily scaled to the performance of the hardware and probably doesn't have that high requirements anyway. I'm not a football fan really and gave up playing console soccer after sensible soccer mainly but always preferred Pro evolution to fifa but couldn't argue the point as take a very casual approach to football.
