Forums - Gaming Discussion - Do you consider Xbox One a Failure?

Failure? I'm actually curious. I hear a lot of people call it that. But, it's already around 30 million units. That puts it near the sales of the Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64, and original Xbox, and it's still selling. It should definitely pass all of those consoles by the end of this year. It seems that gamers have this "either you're first or you're last" mentality when it comes to console sales. What do you all think?

It's a success in North America and the UK.

It's a horrible failure everywhere else.

It's not a failure, but I think its far from being a success as well. And seeing how well MS did last gen it's a bit of a sting to see how it is now.

No, just when compared to PS4 it's a bit of one. But overall no.

Yes. A failure compared to PS4 and a failure compared to Xbox 360.

Coming off the heels of the Xbox360, which did so much work for MS, a bit. They have nobody to blame but themselves for the 'online-only' and forced kinect, 1-2 failure combo

I don't think so, no. There are still several years of life left in it, at which point it will likely be near 360 numbers.

It is a failure compared to the competition deffinetly, and MS has done little to stop the steady decline in sales. However, if it is turning MS a profit, then no it is not a failure. It has sold well all things considered. My main concern is the lack of exclusives leading many to just go with a PS4/Switch combo, as this will get you access the most games along with a wider range of features. There is almost no reason to own an X1 if you have a PS4 or PC at this point.

So no, it is not a total failure. However the future looks bleak unless they make some changes when it comes to exclusive games.

I don't think so. Xbox is still making money right, via subscriptions and software sales, etc.? It doesn't have the same market or mind share as PlayStation but it doesn't need to. Xbox is kind of chump change for Microsoft, relatively.

well, people said PS3 was a failure despite selling 85m, because it came after PS2 which sold close to double that. So if you were one of those people, you would have to say Xbox One is a failure.

If you take each generation on it's own merits, Xbox One is neither a success or a failure. It's just kind of meh, average
