I was going to get the game during the sale, but reading the coments it seems that the game has some serious problems. I own the original and I'm only interested in buying it again if the resolution is good and for the multiplayer. have any of you tried the game? Is it as broken as the comments say it is?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I do have it, but I haven't noticed any problems. But I didn't mess with any settings or anything and the improvements they made weren't that great otherwise. I did buy it hoping for ensemble to come back.

On a side note... having never played it back in the day, how much sense does it make to play it now? (I am a hardcore AoE 2 fan)

I remember that back in the day, I tried the demo and didn't like the new mechanics. All those mythical creatures and God powers change the game a lot.

If you want, here's a link to the demo, but I don't know how or if it will run on modern systems.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

I have the Age of Mythology Extended edition, no problems here but it isn't as fun as I remembered the game to be

I have it. Resolution and textures are improved with some minor graphical updates. Game play remains unchanged. I haven't personally encountered any bugs for a while. I think their were some when it first released but they've been patched since.

It's fun but the god powers and myth units do change the gameplay a fair bit, especially as they can take up multiple points on your population limit.

The biggest change though was probably the fact that town centers/settlements have to be built on a set site, so if you want to expand you have to find a settlement site and get to it before the enemy. It adds an extra strategic element to expansion and population growth that wasn't in AoE2.
