I'm on the boss that has water everywhere. Where you have to light up the flame torches across the level. I see two different strategies to beat him just need to get my timing down better.

That one is actually easy, it's just too bad it has a one-hit kill mega beam, it did one to me right when I stepped in the arena, lol, but it's not hard, even without the fire (though it helps a lot).
When there is small slimes, focus on killing them quick instead of anything else, them through shit on you can really mess you up, if you don't want to light all the three big torches, I suggest saving the fire to spend when they come instead.

Yea he seems pretty easy I keep getting hit by his arms mainly. The big beam isn't to bad cause it's pretty slow.  I heard if you don't use the fire the black slime never comes but it's a lot slower to kill obviously. So that's the route I've been trying to go. I did the fire trick once but died and decided to go back to the first strategy as it simply involves me dodging his arms way more then I am right now. I keep getting hit to much.

Glad to see Horizon is winning. In the middle of it now and truly an amazing game. I'm loving the story and the world is so amazing looking I have to stop sometimes and just look around. Gameplay is really fun. At first I hate the way there was no autolock but I get it now and it's way better without one. I was just playing the game all wrong once I adjusted my style it all made sense how the devs expected you to play.

Which weapon are you using?
If you are going with the katana when he is doing the "arms" swings hit it with middle stance and end with high when you are feeling its pulling back, and when hitting its body go for low stance.
Low stance high mobility is just priceless, despite the low damage.

I'm using Dual Katana's. I've only been using  high stance but maybe I'll try out low stance. I've never even tried attacking it's body. lol man I'm so bad at these games.

Ori and the Blind Forest and Nioh would be my runner up. :)

Isn't Arms on a different generation of console? Anyway pretty dissapointing list so far compared to other generations. Last generation we hade:

Mass Effect
Uncharted
Assassin's Creed
Demon souls
Dragon Age
Gears of War
BioShock
Bayonetta
Dead Space
Dead Rising
Borderlands
Littlebigplanet
Resistance
Motorstorm
InFamous
Batman Arkham Asylum
Xenoblade Chronicles
Super Mario Galaxy
Left 4 Dead

And those are just the really highly acclaimed ones in the first few years.(probably forgetting a few).

Bloodborne, Nioh, and Horizon are all amazing.

This forum has a weird Nintendo bias, most places wouldn't even dream of putting Splatoon in the same ballpark as Bloodborne or Nioh. Nintendo haven't had a truly great new IP since Xenoblade.

It's a very average game, the 81 metacrtic score proves that, it's the type of game Sony just shits out and doesn't even care, but something that can take off on a Nintendo console due to no competition and people being really desperate for something decent to play.

You don't know what are you talking, no its not average game, its something new, great, and fun, and sales and popularity of game proves that, preorders of Splatoon 2 also proves that, also fact that people were saying for Splatoon that's one of best game and best new IP this gen, even before this thread, proves that. Main reason why game has 81 metacritic score is because game had very small amount of content on launch, but only few months after launch game had double of launch content.

And like I wrote, Splatoon 2 will be even much more popular because it will be on platform that will have much higher instal base, Splatoon 2 currently dominating on Japanese pre order list of games.

The only people saying any of that are hardcore nintendo fans. Stop making excuses, the game is strictly average and if it were on a Playstation or Xbox it would've been drowned out by dozens of better titles and no one would even remember it, but since Wii U owners had like 10 games worth playing it's considered great.

Maybe Splatoon is actually a great, fun, creative new game that you could sink hours and hours into? I mean, the game had to have done something right if it sold almost 5 million units, almost on par with Smash Bros.
