I don't use adblock because if we all did the site would shut down.

If VGChartz had some sort other way of raising money like a patreon, I think a lot of us would contribute something.

But I'm not gonna tolerate the bullshit ads. No other website I visit is this bad.

Good man. As I said if nobody watched the adverts the site would be long gone. Thank me later.

Didn't some users break off a couple years ago to make their own site?

Yes. I remember something going down to cause that. Don't remember the name of the site though.

I miss last gen.. machinima used to talk about our sale charts. we were famous.

Ikr. Now we are 2nd rate. We're not even mentioned on Neogaf anymore, and we're looked at in shame. But vgchartz is like crack, you can never quit once you are part of it.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

If someone gives me $100, I will donate $50 to vgc fund

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

I have no idea how much this website would cost, but I would imagine it would cost users a lot more than expected

They would probably find other, less intrusive, ways to generate revenue if it wasnt for the gross use of ads. So I wont be thanking you.

How much would VGChartz cost? well the website isn't maintained well I am willing to join a kickstarter but I won't invest more then say, $10 so all-in all even if all people who post here do that it won't end up being a gigantic amount and there is also things like the website will need to keep running so there will be yearly costs.

And the horrible adds to give revenue so the person selling will want more upfront cash then the add revenue gives for at least the next 4 years, thats how buyouts work

Well, if 1000 users pay $10, that's $10 000, which ain't bad. Considering the amount of users here using adblock while browsing, and the relatively low userbase, I can't imagine the site being that costly to buy.

LOL, 1000 users. you would need 200 thousand users to do that to even have a hope. People seriously undervalue what the amount of pageviews of a site like this are worth. $10,000 wouldn't be enough to rent the site for a week.

You may be right. I don't really know how much this site could be worth.

I think it would be great for one person, or a small group, to purchase the site and improve it, running it as a business. As for the communal approach that some have mentioned, that kind of thing rarely works. I'd be worried that we'll quickly end up worse off than we are now.
