Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Theory on why Monster Hunter World isn't coming to Switch(yet).

So they don't put it on Switch because it would sell too well? Ironclad logic.

I have seen the game.  The only remarkable technical aspects are some of the lighting and particles.  It's using the same old engine, just prettied up.  The Switch could run Worlds, with far fewer compromises than you seem to think.

And just to elaborate: grass density is mediocre, environment textures are nothing special, polygonal complexity of various environmental and character meshes are nice but nothing to write home about, particle effects are nice the few times they use it, and the lighting is quite good.  It's a pretty game, no doubt, but no tech showpiece, not even remotely close.

There are no areas anymore which means no load screens and i'm pretty sure the Switch can't pull that off which by gameplay we've seen is fundamental to the gameplay. You can't work around that.

Yeah, open world, no loading areas. Unheard of on Switch.

Have you seen the game? I doubt the Switch could handle it without serious compromises to be honest.

Nope, Monster Hunter World is pretty average as far as current generation games go. It would probably be tricky to port it to the handheld mode of the Switch, but no more tricker than porting MH1 was from PS2 to PSP. Of course, Capcom's full engine might not be up to task (they used the mobile version of the engine for 3DS games.)

We are talking about Capcom. Not the most surprising decision-making on their part if it were the case.

It's really amazing how those billion dollar companies never seek guidance from VGC business experts. No wonder they're all bankrupt.

I personally like the theory of that guy before E3 who was spot on about MH World and why it is not on switch

The WiiU could pull off XCX without load-screens, the Switch has more power and - more important for this openness - more memory. This explanation is just wrong. You could talk about effects, but these are certainly not on a level that the Switch would be totally left out. No, this is a decision not based on technology, like most in game business, as it is a business, not research. Most of the time the decisions have to do with money, not tech.

EDIT: Totally forgot about Breath of the Wild. No loading screens. Big world. AI in the enemies. Physics in the world. If Switch can handle Breath of the Wild, it can handle MonHun World. Maybe it looks better, has higher resolutuion on PS4 and XBox. But no loading screens is really no excuse.

Yes, Capcom has been on the verge of being bought out since the late 00's now because of some very odd decisions. It doesn't take an expert to see that they are running their business poorly. Furthermore it is quite possible that the people who are targetted to buy their games (consumers) know why they might not buy their games. But keep it up with the very weak appeal to authority fallacies why don't ya.

Japan have never ignored main MH gmaes on portables on consoles however it's a different story.
