Look at the title of the thread.  I specifically made it clear that I'm targeting Switch owners.

But you didn't give an opportunity to non-switch owners to see the results at least. (We all want to see the results of polls).  That fact alone will bias your answers as they'll pick whatever they want just to see results.  The key to designing a good poll is to consider all the options and to isolate people.  Either way your results aren't going to be conclusive, but you'll at least allow those who want to play fair to have a place to play their piece.  This seems like your first poll and in time you'll understand the nuances. There's never a perfect poll, and self surveys are some of the most unreliable of all statistics, but you'll at least steer your data into more accurate directions with options for everyone.

I wanted to keep things simple so I'm not really concerned with non-Switch owners right now.  This is specifically for people who own a Switch like the thread title makes clear.

Maybe I should have, but the motivation from this thread/poll came from a debate I had with someone who specifically said they know for a fact that the majority of Switch owners never owned a Wii U, but was unable to show evidence to back that claim.

I'll definitely take what you said into consideration the next time I make a poll.   I apologize if I made some people feel left out, but I was really focused on one thing.

Not saying you are wrong, but where can I find sold though numbers?

On this website.

VGChartz' Wii U sell-through estimates for 2012 and 2013 are in the correct ballpark because they have been verified with shipment data. The currently estimated sell-through for Switch lacks the same doublechecks because more official data has yet to be made available, but the more reliable sales trackers in Japan (Media Create, Famitsu) and the USA (NPD) have Switch beating Wii U with ease in a launch-aligned comparison, so any reasonable estimate for worldwide sales has to show the same. The Japanese trackers show Switch performing at 25-30k units per week whereas Wii U was 5-10k, NPD has Switch at over 200k per month whereas Wii U did ~50k.

VGC's accuracy can and should be doubted, but the margin between Wii U and Switch is so tremendous that it's 100% clear that the latter system is outselling the former by multiple times after the launch period. The Wii U's holiday launch makes things look much closer than they really are. The more sales data comes in, the clearer it gets that the two systems aren't playing in the same league.

So nothing official from Nintendo?

Nintendo announces shipment data every three months in their financial reports; the next one is due in late July. But Nintendo also considers Media Create and NPD perfectly valid and uses them as sources for sell-through graphs, so there's no reason to doubt the numbers of these sales trackers.

But what you are saying is that at the same time frame Switch sold 4x as many units as the Wii U?   I'm sorry, but I can't believe that.

2x I can accept, but 4x seems ridiculous.

Of course I owned a Wii U. Why do you think I was so desperate to get a good Nintendo console again?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Still own a WiiU, which is getting used most again after BotW was all done. Switch's time will come, just not interested in buying WiiU ports.

I had a Wii U for like a year, bought it for Pikmin 3, but was disappointed with everything, including Pikmin 3. Wish I never bought it and just spent the money on 3DS games instead.

Did but pawned it along with most of my Wii U games on Amazon to help pay for my Switch

I had a Wii U, my daughter has now inherited it. Despite everything I thought it was a great system. Switch is a fantastic piece of kit and I'm liking the moves that Nintendo are currently making (minus the shortages).

Here's the numbers of this site compiled in a table/graph to help you

Wii U is selling in 30 thousands, while Switch has yet to drop to under 150k just yet.

Where are you getting 4x the pace?   Wii U sold 3 million units by the end of December 2012.    Even if that were the case it doesn't necessarily mean the majority of people buying the Switch never own/owned a Wii U.  Now don't get me wrong it probably has more interest than the Wii U did to people outside the hardcore fan base, but there isn't enough data to show how much of an impact its had on the more mainstream market.

That is not true. It shipped that amount by the end of December. It didn't sell that amount until Summer 2013.
