Here's some anecdotal evidence for you: Last week on my airplane home a guy sat by me and pulled out his Switch so we started talking about it. He told me he hadn't played video games since the '90s but the Switch interested him enough to buy one. Take that for what it's worth.

To be clear, I'm asking this question on mutlple gaming sites/pages.
