Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo communications director indicates that Metroid Prime 4, Pokemon are 2018 titles

I don't believe this for one second.

When you consider the line up with the games that weren't touched on at E3 2018 is already looking quite solid if they manage to hit the targeted release.

Metroid Prime 4
Fire Emblem
Pokemon
Kirby
Yoshi
Tales Project
Shin Megami Tensei V
Dragon Quest XI
No More Heroes 3
Pikmin World
Octopath Traveler

I hope they wait until 2019 for the next Pokemon game. Let the 7th gen time to breathe.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Miscomunication, certainly.
If they were actually planned for 2018 we would have seen that at Spotlight.
Not only that, if the release was so close, we had seen some gameplay or a trailer.

Could be a late 2018 launch.  They didn't show off Fire Emblem, Octopath Traveler, or Shin Megami Tensei V, which are all exclusives for 2018.

We'll have to wait and see.  They will likely have a 2018 focused Direct either in December or January to show off their more or less full 2018 lineup.   Pokemon making 2018 wouldn't shock me, but Metroid...I dunno.  We'll see.  If BOTH land in Fall or Holiday 2018 then...dang.

The Pokemon director saying 'it may not be out for another year' pretty much confirmed to me that Gamfreak is aiming for a 2018 release for that game. He was saying that development would most likely take longer than 12 months. So I think it'll be holiday 2018.  I'm also pretty sure they started development on the Switch title before Sun and Moon came out.  Hopefully Monoliftsoft is helping them out with HD development and making an open world like theydid for Zelda.  That should also speed things up.

Metroid is more interesting, as the trailer really made it look like it had just started development or even that they had just decided to ok the game in the first place. But if it is really coming next year it must have been worked on for a while, and they just don't want to show it off yet. Which I guess is possible with the Fire Emblem and Pokemon announcements.

Would be swell but I'll believe it when I see it.

Nintendo showed gameplay of Kirby and Yoshi, both 2018 titles, but showed nothing of Pokemon or Metroid. And we're supposed to believe they are 2018 titles too?

I'll believe it when I see it.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

For Pokemon's sake, I hope it's not a 2018 title. Because if Gen 8 is really out by 2018, that just screams "RUSHED" to me.

Kirby and Yoshi might release in early 2018 though. The later two could release in the end of 2018 with titles filling in for summer.
