I claim everything every month as I own vita, ps3 and ps4. Amazing value even if I probably only really play about 1 in 4 games.

I wasn't sure, I thought that was the way I had read it and also I'd seen posts like this on the PS forum:

What you read online is out-of-date. The licenses of the free games will expire as soon as your Plus subscription expires, but there is no guarantee that you will get them back even if you renew your Plus subscription later. It depends on how much later, and Sony has been reticent to specify exactly how long you can let your subscription lapse before you lose some, or all, of your free games permanently. You can't just buy a Plus subscription when you want to play one of your free games. Sony allowed that for a few months, but that was years ago.
I've seen some stuff to the contrary that if you re-subscribe and renew your license then you are good to go again. I've just never let mine expire.

iirc unless Sony themself are delisting the games you should be fine. Even if it happen they should at least announce it a few week or months earlier.
A handheld gamer only (for now).

I was doing this the entire first year the ps4 was out, by the time I bought the console I had a backlog of almost 50 games to install on it day one.

Sorry, should I have included "in my opinion"? I thought it was pretty much implied... but yes, this is my opinion.
You made me just realise that I've missed out on a ton of PS3 and Vita games.
