Good! About time indies come back to PC, kneeling on chickpeas and begging for pardon.

Click bait title.

If I was an indie I would find it relevent.

His statement basically says to all indies out there that they will be getting no advertising help from Sony.

Yet MS or Nintendo may showcase their indie games at E3 or in a direct, ect. Especially if said indie game becomes an exclusive.

Nope, it just means that they wouldn't focus on it during E3.

Or do you think GTS is irrelevant and will have no marketing or support?

For god’s sake I am so upset now with the original Switch dock!
Look at this SFANS Adapter, I just found it on IndieGoGo, and it is definitely much much better than the giant garbage original dock.

Gamescon, TGA, Paris, ect get like a fraction of a fraction of media coverage/following as E3. Be like comparing advertising spots for the Superbowl with a pre-season game on Football.

You are being blind if you don't think an Indie would greatly value getting spotlight at E3 during one of the main console makers big conference.

Think of this when your an Indie. You are making a game and you look at the conosles. Obvoiusly the PS4 has the largest userbase so that is appealing. But you are a small indie and can't afford advertising and thus how do you get those 60 million owners to know your game exists? out of those 60 million, only the online forum dwelers know of your game, so maybe half a million.

Now you look at Nintendo and they are trying to push their system and thus advertising indies to expand their library appeal. So even though they may only have 5 million console owners, all 5 million of those owners know of your upcoming game due to Nintendo pushing it.

Which is more appealing to a developer working on a game in his garage tyring to make a big break?

So you went from getting no advertising support from Sony to a fraction compared to at E3.....and where did they say that they would NOT be showing indies at E3 anymore in the article? Because maybe I missed it. Even if it is not at E3 Sony taking time out at any of their events to advertise an indie is big for the developer. Do you think an indie developer would turn that down? time at Gamescon, TGS, Paris etc? Also where did I say that an Indie would not greatly value spotlight at E3?

As for your Scenario I would go with the company that I would have the best shot at which in the case you gave would be Sony. 60 million potential customers, support from Sony with their Blogs, Youtube, gamining events outside of E3 and still a possibility of being shown at E3, a history of supporting indies coupled with word of mouth from 60 million potential customers.....it is a no brainer to go with Sony. That would be where the biggest shot would lie.....easily.

In the OP during the interview he says that showing indies at E3 is a waste of space. to me that sounds like zero advertising for indies at e3.

E3 which is like the superbowl for video games. blogs, youtubes, other events are pathetic in comparison. They get like a fraction of a fraction of coverage and veiwership.

Thus my point still stands. 60 million potential customers means nothign if only 1% of them hear of the game. Meanwhile if Nintnedo showcases it, then lets say half the userbase see it. Half of 5 million is much higher than 600k.

So saying that at E3 to focus more on other things they will show less indies means they will be getting no help from Sony.....Let's just forget Gamescon, TGS, the Paris event etc. Yeah I see why so many people are saying this quote is getting taken out of context because it clearly is.....

getting PSN+ money and recognition is probably much more relevant than 15s on the montage of E3.

Have you seen the part he said there was no value in making the collage that wouldn't show anything of the game? He wasn't saying there was no value in Indie, he was saying that just showing a lot of them without highlight showed low value based on their research, but looking at your last answer you probably didn't even understood the interview.

It sounds to me like Sony are very determined to get as far away from the No man's sky debacle as humanly possible. After having promoted said game so extensively, to have it end up as a headliner for most of the Worst of 2016 lists, I can't say I'm surprised that they'd prefer to pretend that never happened.

Did you read the entire quote or just the title?

Of course I read it. There could have been a way to mention that there wasn't time to involve them in the show without saying they're not as relevant. That's still being disrespectful when you say they're considered a waste of time. A waste of time was going to the theaters to see Sony's presentation be recycled from last year's E3. More content can't hurt.

He also mentioned GT Sport. Should Polyphony be pissed? Let's be real even for a single second.

E3 is the biggest gaming event that is for sure.....but to say the other events are pathetic in comparison is just silly. Sure they are not as big but they are by NO means pathetic. So getting that advertisment and stage time at any of those events would GREATLY benefit any developer. And you can't be serious to think that in the day and age of social media/the internet only 1% of 60 million would hear about said games....like that isn't even realistic.

It is like you are dismissing Sony and giving them only the lowest possible outcome.....freaking 1% of 60 million. But are so optimistic with Nintendo and assuming 50% of their userbase will see it......why because they showed it at E3? No matter how you put it the higher chance lies with more consumers. So again looking at the numbers of Switch owners and the number of PS4 owners the clear choice would be Sony.
