Forums - Gaming Discussion - From a true gamer point of view, should I really buy a Switch?

You see guys, I live in a country where it's pretty hard to get money to buy things like consoles and games... I can affort it tho but just one console per generation. Recently I saved enough money to buy a console + 5-6 games ( 600$) But can't really decide if the Switch is worth my only shot... I know It's a new console and only has 3 months on the market and that I should only give it time before buying it if I'm not sure but, I get until July to make up my mind since my GF is traveling to the US and she can pick up whatever I buy and bring it to me in August.

I really don't like asking in forums for something that I should decide but I've been monitoring the way Nintendo is doing things right now and I'm confused. They didn't have any 3rd party game announced at E3 (Fuck I wanted that DB FighterZ so badly to be on Switch) but I really love Nintendo's first party games and the Switch is super interesting too...

Should I buy a Nintendo Switch in July or go safe with a Ps4? (Persona 5 is really talking dirty to me right now too)

It's hard to know, without knowing you much. But Ultimately, I think you should go with whichever you're more excited for. That's all I can really say.

I agree with this.

Does Nintendo games excite you the most? Would the portability give you a lot of use over a PS4? Are you ok with the questionable 3rd party support for the Switch? If money is an issue games tend to get cheaper overtime on other platforms where Nintendo games tend to hold their value. Is that a potential issue for you?

Make a list of the games each one has and is expected to have in the future and see which list excites you the most. You're the only one who knows what you like to play.

There just really isn't an absolute answer to that question.

I think the reason I'm giving it so much thought is that I love Nintendo games but I love fighting games as much, been a KoF / SF / Blazblue player since a long time really made me fall in love with the gender. I wasn't really having any doubt to buy a Switch until I saw the E3 and there's no traditional fighting game coming to Switch... Arms looks fun and we sure get a new Smash announced next year but no new traditional fighting game (Blazblue Centralfiction is a port of a 2015 game.) I was hoping for at least DB FighterZ to come to the Switch as well as Ps4 XBONE, but that dind't happen.

Portability is a big point since I'm always going from place to place but I do have free time to sit down everyday and play at home.

I'm the biggest fan of Zelda I know and Metroid is my 3rd favorite franchize (Persona being the 2nd)

I'm not that Ok with lack of 3rd party since I see a bunch of cool first party games but none of them are traditional fighters.

Money is not an issue, I can save monthly to buy  a 60$ game, even 2.

PS4
The PS4 right now has a better lineup of games out already compared to the Switch.

I think that like a lot of decisions regarding entertainment, is ultimately up to you. I think the Playstation 4 is ultimately the better value, but Nintendo has a few must haves. Key word, few. Playstation has more id say.

Dont expect the Switch to drop any price soon

But expect to have some sweet deals and price drops for the PS4 this holiday. They will want to look good against the Xbox One X.

Pocky Lover Boy!

That's a tough one. PS4 has a big, big library with a lot of great first and third party content. You're guaranteed games like Persona, Guilty Gear, BlazBlue, Dragon Ball FighterZ, etc.

On Switch you have Zelda, Metroid, and at least one BlazBlue game, which hasn't been identified yet.

I hope you find the system that's best for you!

Buy a PS4 and a ton of games, seriously there's a lot of great games under even $20. You'll get more for your money and more variety for your money. Switch probably won't get a price drop until next holiday at best. Persona 5 is damn good too then again...so is Zelda... if you really can't choose flip a coin, but right now PS4 has the better value.
