Forums - Gaming Discussion - So PS4 game lineup til 2019 is stacked af, why would you want PS5 before 2020?

There's even a PS4 Pro for people who just need a higher spec PS4 anyway. Agreed that there's zero incenctive for Sony to want a PS5 before 2020 unless XBox One X starts to sell like gangbusters.

I would prefer to look at it from a hardware/tech perspective; when a Ryzen2+Navi APU housed in $400 console is possible.

Would Sony launch PS5 and PS5 Pro together since hardware boosts seem to be a given? If so, would Sony still launch a PS5 Pro Plus later? Interesting times ahead.

e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

I don't want it before 2020, but I assume most other people don't, either.

Why? Because after 5 years, a console gets totally stale. New things are always more exciting than old things.

I don't want a PS5 till late 2020 at the earliest. And to be honest based on how things are going it seems we won't get ps5 till then anyways

I Agree, also to the OP i would put FF7 Remake in 2020 at the earliest... (im not even kidding).

I sure as hell don't.

The later it comes out, the cheaper a box that offers a massive leap forward compared to the PS4 Pro.

Have some time to kill? Read my shitty games blog. http://www.pixlbit.com/blogs/586/gigantor21

:D

Still going with 2019. 6 years is good enough for a normal gen going forward. Hell, the PS2 launched only 5 years after the PS1 came out. I think Sony was being honest about Pro being mid-gen, also. 3 years til Pro. 3 years til PS5.

And there's a reason Sony is going to do this. Like it or not, this is going to most likely be PS4's peak year. It'll at least be on par with last year, so ~18M sold-through. But, starting in 2018, we are going to start seeing a decline in sales, especially mid-late year. My guess is ~16M sold-through. Reason being that we will get a $199 PS4 this year, but I don't see it dropping much after this. $149 also isn't going to give the same boost $199 will. 2019 will see another drop, guessing ~14M sold-through.

This is the perfect time to launch a new console. As the interest in your console declines, you cause a resurgence of interest in it with new HW. Early adopters who are ready for a new gen will move on to the PS5. Those late adopters will grab a $149 PS4 or $249-$299 Pro. And those in between will stick with their own PS4s/Pros, and play the many cross-gen titles that will be launching for the next year or so. It'll also ensure that MS, if they are making a XB2, won't be able to get a headstart on next gen.

No PS4 till 2024

AMD Navi 14TF, Ryzen 2, 7nm, 24GB ram

Fall 2020

Finally CGI graphics will be a reality!

Thats a crazy prediction.

OP- PS4 has a pretty good lineup. Would like more FPS though but still pretty good.

I want the PS4 to live for as long as possible. PS5 until 2020 would be okay for me.
