Maybe Sony paid to keep it off Switch (lol) or it can't run on Switch without being compromised past a point that the developers wanted.

Watching the trailer ... I do think it probably could run on Switch, but maybe Capcom disagreed.

3DS had tons of MH games selling 2-4 million each in japan.
They wouldnt miss this public.
Maybe MH world was developed to catch the western audience, and it could be very different, much more western friendly... So, they would grow MH in west while keep the tons of profit in japan on switch.
Thats why 2 games in development...

It would make sense to make more 3DS/switch HD ports. It does sell millions.

According to this source Sony wouldn't allow for it to be on the Switch, making world essentially an MH exclusive in japan.

Since when are mainline games "dumbed down"? Monster Hunter World is literally Monster Hunter 5 renamed.

Prince of Persia 2009 was a mainline game in that series and was significantly watered down. Some would also argue that COD:MW2 was watered down from the first Modern Warfare.

Because MH's biggest region is Japan where MHW is going to be on PS4 only and a region that Switch is currently tearing to shreds at the moment, in the west Sony are the top selling home platform over Xbox and have been the go to platform for multiplatforms.

Thats what the source was saying. I think it was along the lines of 'they don't care about xbox and pc in the west', wich makes sense seeing that MH isn't big in the west.

well...Sony does have exclusivity rights to Monster Hunter World in Japan which has been MH's main market...It isn't coming to PC or Xbox in Japan.
