Album of the Week: Cancer - Death Shall Rise (1991)

Similarly to Napalm Death's Harmony Corruption, this is a case of a British band going to Florida to have Scott Burns produce their album at Morrisound Productions! I love that guitar tune, that clicky-bass drum sound!! I have to say though, the album starts on a high note with its first track, and I don't think it really reaches those heights again afterwards. However, maybe I should give it a few more listens because making that conclusion. In any case, it's good ol' school death metal!!

I was actually talking about Varg Vikernes with someone yesterday, so I thought I might as well post one of my favourite Burzum songs!!

mM

Well, I've been listening to this tune quite a bit, so I might as well just post it here again!!

Some more Burzum!! I need to listen to this album a few more times, I'm not very familiar with it myself:

Album of the Week: Eyehategod - Take As Needed for Pain (1993)

Some good ol' sludge metal from New Orleans, Louisiana!! A mix of slow-paced, heavily downtuned guitars and punk-style vocals!! If you want some nice music, this is the place to get fucked up out of your mind and just bask in  hatred. I like Blank a lot, apparently White Nigger is also a popular tune, I have to say that I like it quite a bit too despite its questionable name If you like Crowbar, Acid Bath or Down, you'll probably like these guys too!!

Wow, not sure how long this will be up for:

I really wish Acid Bath were on Spotify, not sure why the record label is so protective of their releases.

Strange, Daron Malakian did sort of a tribute to Charles Manson?

"Very sad to hear the news about Charles Manson’s death. During the time I was writing the Toxicity album, Manson’s interviews and music were a big influence on me as an artist. I titled the song #ATWA after Manson’s environmental organization. My interest was in the way he articulated his thoughts and his views on society, not in the murders. The painting in this photo is one I asked my dad to paint with the Charles Manson theme, which I later used as the art for the #ScarsOnBroadway song ‘Fucking’ that was released through limited vinyl. #charlesmanson#mansonfamily"

Malakian included this photo:

Surprisingly the Acid Bath albums are still up. I've listened to them so much these past few days, I know for sure what the album of the week will be!
