Some really cool, slower-paced black metal!! I would really like some recommendations for more songs that are like this

I just love the way the guitar sounds in this song!!

So guys, I know this thread doesn't get much participation, but I was wondering if you guys had any feedback for me? Any ways that I could improve the thread?

Album of the Week: Slipknot - Slipknot (1999)

So, I've decided to go nu metal again!! For some reason I've been having a blast to the past, to the time where Slipknot were one of my favourite bands!! This was the album of theirs that I was definitely most familiar with, and while being heavier than many of the other nu metal albums that it was compared to, it was also lambasted by heavy metal fans for its sound. However, I am in the camp of those who appreciated its sound, having nice very nice percussive section, and trying to bring in a horror-like atmosphere. However, unfortunately the version I had removed my favourite song on the album, Purity. This version has all of the songs from the album, so it's a nice complete version. It was an interesting experiment though, as Slipknot are renowned for their large size: a vocalist, two guitarists, a bassist, a drummer, two percussionists, a sampler and a turntablist!

I have no idea why, but for some reason I've been listening to a ton of Slipknot recently. It just seems so weird why that'd be the case.

I never got into Slipknot much, despite growing up when nu metal was in its glory days. I knew all the singles and heard the albums through my brothers, but they never grabbed me like other acts at the time. Interesting going back now and hearing the thrash and death influences scattered throughout.

As far as the self titled album goes, it's alright but a bit front loaded. I quite like the production though. Ross Robinson gets some stick but the slightly abrasive style works well. Love the sound of those snare and tom rolls from Joey.

Yeah, I think that having a drummer and two percussionists really helps that department. However, I never understood why the band had both a sampler and a turntablist, I think it's usually one person who does that.

Do they even have many DJ parts in their more recent material? I'm not familiar enough with the albums to know.

I'm not sure I'd have to listen again. He's still part of the band though, so if they don't I guess he wouldn't be doing much. In any case, I love this song:

Slipknot is great! Since they are from around here, they were always on the radio. They have softened a bit, but they still come out with quality music compared to other nu metal bands of the time.
