Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Yoshi or Kirby? (The Switch games)

I'm more interested in...

Yoshi! 106 44.73%

Kirby! 108 45.57%

Neither 23 9.70%

Total:237

I'm actually looking forward to both (as long as the Kirby game is in keeping with the recent 3ds games)...however if forced to pick, I would take the yoshi game as it seems to be a follow up to wooly world which was a stellar game... not sure if I liked some of the gameplay elements in the new yoshi game but the final product will probably be a lot more refined than what we saw at e3...I hope.

Both look good, but I'm a little apprehensive about moving Yoshi around a strictly 2D plane but shooting eggs in a 3D space. So I'll go Kirby for now.

Probably Yoshi for me. I've played through all of them (except DS) to the end and enjoyed them. Kirby is more hit and miss. Still looking forward to it though.

I usually prefer Yoshi games since they provide a more challenging experience, but Kirby's charm can't be denied. Even though the games have been easier, I think Kirby has a lot of consistency.

I love Yoshi games, but for some reason I'm not digging the art direction for this one. Woolly World looked a lot better in my opinion.

Nintendo will never make a Yoshi game as good as the original Yoshi's Island, but Woolly World was a good second place, so if they can follow that up nicely, it will be a great title

Why can't we get a Yoshi + Kirby game? It should be a game about eating.

Kirby is the best platformer series, DK is second, Mario third, Yoshi fourth

Prefer Kirby but its too easy. Imagine a really hard Kirby game.

Yoshi. I enjoyed Yoshi's Wooly World and I'm ready for another Yoshi game.

I'm pretty burned out on 2D platformers in general, but Yoshi looks much nicer graphically (though his whine when he's throwing eggs is obnoxiously repetitive), like Woolly World but with paper craft. Kirby, on the other hand, barely looks HD to me. And they already announced (yet another) action/platformer Kirby game for 3DS for this holiday, which is like the 3rd one in the last 3 or so years (not to mention probably the 3rd one in a line of games that look EXACTLY like Return to Dreamland on Wii), so despite Woolly World on Wii U/3DS, Kirby's definitely been the one getting milked the most. I wish they'd be more creative with Kirby again.

Honestly, I wish they'd just release "Nintendo Maker" which would let you design your own Kirby, Yoshi, Mario, and Donkey Kong Country levels and be done with these overpriced, individual 2D platformers that just feel so lazy in comparison to games like BotW and Mario Odyssey. At least Mario Maker gives you different styles and constant new content from others, and has an online component. Nintendo's 2D platformer series are woefully stuck in the past with no creative options built in, nor any kind of online play or co-op generally. If Yoshi or Kirby were to have online co-op, I'd be more interested.
