ironmanDX said: Nintendo have already planned for vr with the Switch it seems. At the very least, they're toying with the idea. Here is an article from back in December 2016. https://www.theverge.com/2016/12/15/13969176/nintendo-switch-vr-headset-accessory-patent |
Yeah it seems like they went from "No we're not doing VR" to "ok maybe we'll do VR" to "hmm, wait and see for the future please" (which is usually Nintendo talk for "yeah it's happening, we just can't announce it now".
I think what may have happened is they've been working with Universal on VR tech for the Universal Studios Nintendo World attractions and started to realize it would be really cool for a lot of Nintendo IP.
Actually Kimishima came pretty close to just full on confirming it a couple of months ago:
Kimishima said Nintendo is “studying” the possibility of adding VR to the Switch, the company’s upcoming portable/docked hybrid console. “If we are able to resolve the issues with playing [VR] comfortably for long hours, we will support it in one form or another,” Kimishima told Nikkei.
Dollars to donughts say Nintendo's R&D will just tweak the tech and make it more "comfortable", and off we go to the races.
