Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Rumor: Microsoft Has 2-3 New IPs in development. One similar to HZD, and one by Capcom.

There will always be trolls, but the "ps has no games" today is a very small portion of people. So Sony indeed changed it's image on both being broke and not releasing anything.

I dunno about small, I've seen it over the years on a number of sites and social networks.

Sony was broke and didn't release anything?.

They didn't even make gears though. They were forced to buy the ip because they no longer wanted to make it.

Well I don't know if MS comitionated the first one or they were presented to it. But they sipported the IP so I'll consider their IP

If they commissioned it they would've owned the ip long ago. They published it to keep it exclusive.

Like I said, they can try, but it's not like them trying will erase the label. Hell they can "try" and their tried attempts could also be cited as being worth nowt, thus going back to the dudebro label all over again.

Sony was considered dead after PS3 issues, Apple was irrelevant in early 90's and even 00's... a company may change their image, but it takes a lot of money and will.

Yes and will caused Microsoft to take halo from Apple mid concept. Steve jobs was trying to show that Apple could be a considerable option for PC games and Microsoft stepped in front of them and bought bungie mid concept. There are videos of Apple showcasing halo. It's on YouTube.

I agree they didn't die, but nonetheless that was the image they had and they changed it.

I didn't cared about Apple there and I don't like Apple now, but for the people that buy from them the image changed a lot.

Well, with MS console department I can understand why you think it would be throwing money at a pit.

We still got ye old "PS has no games" label tossed around last gen and this gen, then we had it applied to Xbox, despite Xbox actually having games like Sony had.

People buy them for their name, not what they do these days, I'd hardly call that good for eevryone tbh, yeah they make wads of cash, but so do oil rig companies that cause spills as well, yay for oil, bad for spills.

I'm talking for anything in general, just throwing money and always expecting good results.

The PS3 has no games remark only existed at the beginning of the gen. By mid gen Sony had more ips than Microsoft and nintnedo and they were bleeding internally from saving blu ray. It's foolish to underestimate sonys first, second and third party as it always reaches its height past past the first two years and then they stay consistent until the next console is revealed. MIcrosoft is the opposite where the start with lots of third party exclusives without ips we don't own and stay stable with the same exclusives until it becomes noticeable at the end of the gen that they cannot keep up with successful ip development.

Yet the meme itself managed to transverse all the way to current gen, then swapping over to Xbox.

I know of their bleeding, but it wasn't plum broke to do anything and it actually had games to play.

There was never a swap in reality. By the end of last gen the media and gamers realized Microsoft was lacking in exclusives. In reality there is no equality between he two companies ip development. Microsoft has yet to create a new ip they've could depend on. That's because there has been no third party who would do the work for them.

I'm talking of meme swap here, not the literal kind you're thinking of.

Making their own IP could still have them being handed as "copying" another studio or the general concept of some other game, popular or niche.

Hahahaha I was thinking this too! Okami for real?! They wouldn't make that exclusive to MS when Sony and Nintendo were the only ones to ever have it. Still I'm intrigued with this.

I said that about Shenmue if they ever made a 3. It would be on a MS platform. Till Sony trotted his ass out there to beg for money.

Well Shenmue started on the Dreamcast, so I still wouldn't believe it would only be on Xbox since Shenmue 2 arrived on the OG Xbox. Also I don't believe it was Sony that was asking for money. Just wanted to see where the interest lies with an older title.

"Style: similar to Horizon Zero Dawn"

I guess it's nice that they're taking pointers from a Sony IP... I'm not saying that they're copying or anything, but we've seen that Horizon does in fact work, it's had a great launch for a new IP, and if another company wants to follow suit and try their hand at it, good for them!

Makes me wonder what me means, exactly, from a "style" standpoint.  Might be as simple as a great looking natural landscape or perhaps a kind of post-apocalyptic world where the wilderness is reclaiming the towns and cities--which has been done a LOT in games already.  I doubt they'd greenlight something with mecha-dinosaurs, though.

Considering close to 70M PS4 sold and 35M X1 I would say a very small portion is a troll.

That was the image it had, and some still think like that. But they kept releasing and recovering.

Not sure, they don't own Sunset Overdrive although they comissionated. The only thing they requested was exclusivity of that release.

Yes, MS if really wanting could buy 5 different studios and pump up their output.
