Lots of baked details and clever art.
The Decima game engine has shown it's a real power house when games are made it's way though. That can't be denied.
Take Uncharted 4 for instance. There are areas where artists just haven't given much attention to any details, some shadowing, geometry and texture work is clearly sub-par and could look last-gen.
For example... The Lemons.

Yeah, I cannot wait to see how that partnership works out. Personally, you dont even need an upgraded console to see how great horiozn looks, but the 4k boost is undoubtedly stunning.

If only it was actually running at 4k though... Sadly only the PC has such power.

But it lacks the style and art work in my opnion, they went for to much of a realistic approach.

The Photogrammetry in Battlefront really does stand alone on a high-end PC, I feel Horizon and Uncharted just don't reach those same heights.
That's not to say Horizon and Uncharted are bad looking games, they aren't. Just that there is another *level* of graphics.

Yep. And now that the risk of creating a new IP has been taken, and proven successful, the artists collective known as Microsoft is gearing up for a "next gen AAA game 'similar' to Horizon Zero Dawn. It's just like the old saying, "if you can't buy somebody's good idea, copy it".

All games take inspiration from other games in one way or another.
Open World games predate Horizon.

Looks drab compared to the Horizon screenshots. Can you adjust the settings for the artstyle?

It's supposed to look hyper-realistic so it sits in with the movies visually. And it achieves that.

I would rather see any other location. Deserts for me seem so unimaginative. No matter what they will always look the same. Look t that rock, it looks just like this other rock, hold on this rock is slighty bigger, increddible this one has a crack.

There are other locations.
