Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Phil Spencer - "Why do you care about 60fps?"

Majority of the people aren't even informed enough to know about fps. Majority of the people don't go on game forums or reddit, they dont care about fps or checkerboarding. So long as the pictures move and you can interact with it, and the box says 4K, they're sold.

Nerds saying they rather have 1080p60fps instead of 4K are a tiny minority but appear to be a yuuge crowd on forums(a tiny part of install base), but even here the graphics vs framerate crowd is about equal.

I do think 60fps is going to be more common next gen due to Ryzen but it's never gonna be a standard and hasn't been for the last 23 years.

LOL what a perfect picture for this place and GAF.

30 FPS stable is Enough. 60 FPS 1080P is better. If you want both just forget it in the console space.

What makes you say this?

There's a price on Phil's head it seems.

and ppl said he is a gamer. I dont see him better doing as the last one. That one thing that made xbox one interesting kinect was killed by him. Not a single interesting game on xbox side. How many gows and halos they wanna spit out? Games arent movies that u can sequelize so often. There needs to come new stuff. And not like quantum break thats just a gow clone.

60 fps and 4k HDTV graphics are expected by consumers. Consumers demand must be met to generate sales.

This.

+ The guy who takes the interview is one opiniated fucker. I for one dont give a flying shit if the game is 30fps, as far as I love it. I much rather have a pretty 1080p/30fps title than a mediocre looking 1080p/60fps title. ANd yeah, seeing how much certain franchises sell, I guess Im not alone in this.

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

60 FPS will never be the norm as long as developers are always trying to get the best graphical detail to showcase their games and attract the most gamers to them.

60 FPS could be achieved, but then graphical proficiency among other things would have to be sacrificed which you can no doubt suspect most developers would never be willing to do. They're competing with each other to attract gamer attention, and they can't as easily do that with 60 FPS.

Lube Me Up

For me framerate is more important than resolution.

There will never be enough power that a dev can't dedicate to others things and 60fps just comes "for free"
