Console hardware will always be better value for the price point they sell at. It's why they are still so relevant today.
pokoko said: You seem to have left out a lot of relevant information: "Still, it’s not a complete victory for the Xbox One X. PC gaming doesn’t require an optical drive, after all, so you can enjoy 4K gaming, 4K video content, and HDR through digital downloads. (The RX 580 will handle all that just fine.) That already drops the cost of the cheaper build we priced out. Beyond that, these builds could change the closer we get to the Xbox One X’s launch date. When AMD’s Ryzen 3 line launches, it might offer even better CPU performance for the same price as the FX-8300. Prices might come down for RAM and Pioneer’s 4K UHD Blu-Ray drive. Availability for the RX 580 may increase again. And of course, the holiday shopping season should yield some sweet deals on at least some of these build components. By November 7th, the Xbox One X may be far easier to reproduce as a punchy $500 PC." |
This. You can't compare prices, now, when most companies drop them during the later half of the year.
This also ignores XBX biggest downside. All if its games can be played on that PC. Unless you are a diehard MS/Xbox fan, and just want to show your support for them, there's really little reason to buy one.
The better question is, can you get an Xbox that actually runs all games in 4k?
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
These comparisons don't really make sense to me all that much anymore. 1. A PC is so much more than just a gaming machine and carries a higher price tag in part because of this. 2. Why would you gimp your PC so much when spending a little more to the price tag will significantly increase the power and abilities?
As a console, the XBX is certainly powerful, and that's great. A PC however is a PC, not a console, it is an entirely different class, and that's great. They are different devices for people with different goals. Don't get caught up on comparisons of this sort.
Bets:
1. If the Wii U sells closer to 10 million LTD by 1/3/2015 I win. If it sells closer to 9.5 million LTD by 1/3/2015 OfficerRaichu15 wins (winner gets 2 weeks of avatar control)--Lost.

I know! It seems like Ybarra is just trying to justify the 500 dollar price tag

You can play those on console....
Why not just get rid of your PC completely and never buy one again?.
Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see
So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"
Well, it's pretty darn close if you ask me. In November it will be even cheaper. Get rid of that optical drive (no one needs that on PC) and in November 500 $ should be easily enough for dat 6 TF. Will games on that machine run as good as on X1X? We don't know. But I can promise you that such a PC will run just about anything you throw at it. Even in 4K with 60 fps. Because the beauty of PC gaming is options. If you really want native 4K and 60 fps, just turn down all the effects and stuff. There you go. On X1X you're stuck with whatever the hell devs give you.
Personally, I think X1X is too expensive. The hardware itself might be just worth it, but price was always a huge advantage for consoles. You didn't buy a console because it was just as strong as a PC that costs the same or slightly more. Besides, the bigger factor than PC is the PS4 Pro. No one will get an X1X when the PS4 Pro is 100 $ cheaper (or possibly even more by November). It's just not worth it.
Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.
Idk if I should try cause there is a lot of research that has to go into it.
The problem with the build from the OP is that he is using an FX-8300 which is a grossly overpowered cpu even with the cpu overhead on PCs.
And there are a few other things as well. I will see if I have time
The other problem is, we don't know how most games will perform. Sure it can do 4k but at xbox one's graphical settings or PC ultra graphical settings? And how does it perform at 1080p? Need more stats yo. But maybe I can build one with my estimates of where it will land but it won't be 100% accurate...
PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850
On the bright side. At least the OP didn't choose an i7 + like a 1080 like Ruler usually does so at least the OP has a good starting point.
