Forums - Gaming Discussion - What affect will MHW have on PS4 hardware in Japan?

Tagged games:

I think it will help PS hardware some, but the MH sales are going to plummet and make this not worth it (in Japan specifically for both these things).

A mid size help, I still think ps4 should at least beat or match ps3

I think even with the game launch week, the ps4 will sell less than the switch that week. I also feel ps4 will be somewhere between 5.5-6.5 mil by the end of its life and monhun will not help it much in the long run

What?  The ps4 will be past 6m before MHW releases yet alone lifetime lol.  It's almost at 5m already.  And it's not going to stop selling for the 3/4 years after MHW releases either. I don't understand your pessimistic prediction.

I understand where he's coming from. Japan has been moving away from TV-based consoles since before Wii and has only continued to dwindle since. PS4's closing in on four years on the market and has yet to hit five million. It's possible (though perhaps not probable) that PS4's best performance in Japan is behind it.

The BuShA owns all!

Whats a MHW?

Hunting Season is done...

The safest guess would probably that the game will sell well in JP but not as well as portable titles (so between 1 and 2 million?), and that it won't have a large impact on the PS4's path to 10 million or so sales. But I'd say it's more likely to exceed those predictions than to underperform.

It's still up year-on-year on Japan, though, and that's coming from a 50% YoY increase from 2015 to 2016.

Maybe a 30% increase on HW numbers for 1 week and it halves with the next week.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Minimal the consoler versions of the games don't seem to sell as well as the portable versions, since one of the main draws for the series is it portablity, . And Monster Hunter XX for the Switch will have already been out for several months by time this comes in Japan, so while it may sell some PS4 in Japan I doubt it will be a huge leap.

a lot

By the time MHW releases ps4 will be around 4 years released.  It will be over 6m.  The ps4 will keep selling for another 3 years at least after.  It's retailing at $299 with no game.  It's got the potential to under $199 now if they wanted and in future a super slim for $149.

If you analyse the data there is zero chance this console sells under 8m and a very good chance it can sell 10m.
