I think it is going to have a decent effect on PS4 sales. I can see it raising the baseline about 15% for a good couple of months. Definitly make for a large bump in hardware sales, 80k pluse on launch week is very likely.

PS4 should have no issue at all surpassing PS3 in Japan. It is getting much better Japanese support than the PS3 ever received, and PSVR is strong in Japan. I think 15 Million is the low mark, depeneding on PSVR support, it could even have a shot at 20 million.

Imagine the effect if Capcom announces PSVR support for this game. That's going to.make this game huge in Japan. It's more difficult with a 3rd person game but still not impossible. Might make PSVR owners in the west also to buy a monster hunter game.

Not much. Alienates the fan base so they will probably buy whatever is on Switch/3DS.

It will have some effect but not like you think, one of reasons why Monster Hunter is so popular in Japan is because it's on handheld.

true, the MH mania started on PSP before it was transferred to 3DS, console MH have been half as popular, at most

I think even with the game launch week, the ps4 will sell less than the switch that week. I also feel ps4 will be somewhere between 5.5-6.5 mil by the end of its life and monhun will not help it much in the long run

I think theres a fanbase in japan that are willing to buy a console, to play the next mainline Monster Hunter, which finally looks like its evolving.

So I think it boost PS4 sales.

What?  The ps4 will be past 6m before MHW releases yet alone lifetime lol.  It's almost at 5m already.  And it's not going to stop selling for the 3/4 years after MHW releases either. I don't understand your pessimistic prediction.
