Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Spencer: We Have Just Signed Exclusives That Won’t Be Ready for 2-3 Years, No Point in Showing Them

Thank you MS. I hate seeing games i cant play for another 2 years. Unlike your competition who shows games that havnt even started development. Good decision to announce when there close. We dont want another Scalebound.
This year is looking good with 6 1st party titles coming in 2017. Keep up the good work and ignore the internet trolls. You were voted the best E3 for a reason.

The competiton shows games early but they are good for it by pedigree. ;) micosoft can't say that.

I totally agree with you, still cannot believe how many people act like Square announcing stuff is an accomplishment.

Well does it really matter who makes them? We are still getting games and if its a hit MS could just create a Studio like they did with Halo, and Gears.

But you have to remember that gears wasn't first party from the start. Micosoft was publishing third party to to keep it exclusive. There is no development standard (which is traditional in he console race) or beloved ms studios outside of turn ten for ms.

Strange, in another thread you're building up Spider-Man as an amazing first party exclusive, even though it's a licensed game from a third party developer. Yet here you completely downplay a Microsoft franchise because it's made by a third party. It's almost as if you have a completely different set of rules for both companies. And no, before you say it, "pedigree" doesn't mean jack shit in this regard :)

Clever. Now when you cancel something, no one will care because there was no hype.

Also does that mean there will be no new exclusives for 2 or 3 years?

Can't a company just for once announce a game and launch it at E3 right on stage. That would so hype.

Stop signing contracts for exclusives. Build up your own studios spencer or be dominated by your competiton. Still has yet to figure out that what makes Sony and Nintendo development so special is that they have dedicated studios that fans depend on by name on their own.

Hubris man. That's exactly what you're seeing. The PS3 did a good job on humbling SONY. MS will never learn at this rate.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

I'll believe it when I see it, Phil.

There just as good. Reminds me of the old Forza vs GT arguments. Xbox has its strenghts so does Sony. MS make the games im interested in and by comparion there better than Sonys alternatives. Thats something we obverisly wont agree on which is fine. If you prefer Killzone over Halo when it comes to FPS or Knack over Ori when it comes to platformers thats your taste not mine.

Games like Lost Odyssey, Recore, and Scalebound were "signed" as opposed to developed internally. Doesn't make them any less second party. And building up your own studios isn't a preqequisite for bulking up first party output. Sony didn't build several of its studios and Nintendo didn't build Monolith. They bought them.

Seriously. They are like a spoiled rich kid who cheats on tests and has a mental breakdown if they have to do their own homework

That's pretty much the best turn of phrase I've heard about this company's strategy on gaming.

And he's just after saying he doesn't like exclusive content deals. Well entire games is a lot worse MR. Spencer xD
