Sly Cooper Television Series Announced to Be in the Works
Sony Interactive Entertainment and Technicolor Animation Productions are coming together to bring Sly Cooper to your television screen, but in a non-video game way.
Sony Interactive Entertainment and Paris-based production company Technicolor Animation Productions have announced that the two companies will be partnering to bring Sly Coooper to television audiences.
In order to handle the licensing, merchandising, and distribution of the Sly Cooper series, both companies will be turning to Hong Kong headquartered PGS, a leading brand manager of children’s entertainment properties.
All three parties have expressed their excitement for joining forces to bring the character and his cast to television. As Asad Qizilbash, Senior Director, First Party Games Marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment puts it, this is an opportunity to bring a fan favorite to a whole new audience.
“Capturing the hearts of gamers everywhere when it debuted on PlayStation 2 fifteen years ago, Sly Cooper is one of PlayStation’s most iconic franchises. We are thrilled to be working with Technicolor Animation and PGS to bring Sly and the gang to life on the small screen for a whole new generation of fans to enjoy.”
Sly Cooper originally debuted in 2002 for the PlayStation 2, showing how one raccoon’s platforming antics could steal the hearts of millions. The series has since become a favorite of many gamers.
The original Sly Cooper follows the thievery of one stylish and talented raccoon as he steals from the rich and gives back to his city in a state of disarray. Of course, Sly doesn’t do it all alone, as he is accompanied by friends Bentley (a turtle) and Murray (a hippopotamus). Of course let’s not forget that there’s the somewhat complicated love interest, Inspector Carmelita Montoya Fox, whose onto Sly and his friends.
There is currently no word on what the series’ plot will be, how many episodes it will run, where it will run, or when it will release.
