Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony: There Are Things “We Chose Not to Show” During E3 2017, More News Coming Later This Year "

If you were underwhelmed by the amount of new first-party game announcements during Sony’s E3 2017 press conference, Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida has revealed why – they held back some news for later this year.

Speaking in an interview uploaded by Jagat Review, Yoshida was asked if they had any plans to show something bigger at Tokyo Game Show in September or PlayStation Experience in December.

He replied:

We have no plans to talk about [laughs]. But there are things we have held, we chose not to show during this E3. Of course there will be some more news coming out from our teams later this year. No question.

Earlier in the interview, Yoshida talked about how all of the new PlayStation hardware came out last year (PS4 Slim, PS4 Pro, PlayStation VR), so this year could be all about the games. “Instead of having developers talking about their games, we just showed the best of our games in development,” he said of their E3 presence. “So that was a clear, intentional direction that we had for this year’s E3.”

One of the developers missing from Sony’s E3 2017 press conference was Sucker Punch (inFamous series). While we didn’t hear anything at this week’s event from the studio, Hideo Kojima tweeted a picture with members of the team:

Shuhei also mentioned in the interview that his favorite PS4 game so far is Bloodborne, which he continued to play after getting the Platinum.

Makes sense to me. PSX has been extremely successful the last few years; might as well save the unannounced heavy hitters for that.

PSX is where it is at folks. All is going according to plan.

So all the new, exciting, must buy a PS4/Pro to play that game information, will be out just before Nov 7th?

Sony are going to make PSX their big show each year going forward I think

PSX has definitely been improving year over year, so it makes sense they'd start spreading it out a little more evenly. E3 may have been a little light this year for Sony, but let's not forget this year has been PS4's shining hour. So many great games, and it's only June o.O

I guess this is a move to counter the XBOX (cheez, its ridiculous that Xbox One X contracted is XBOX lol) sales later this year. They will unload all the goodies just before the XBOX launch.

E3 is becoming second to PSX.

Sony has been spreading things out for the last few years between CES, GDC, E3, TGS, EU (Paris, Gamescon, ect.), and PSX. I think having decent hype every few months, and at different locations is better than massive hype at one American venue.

Having an impact at PSX seems like the best choice as it is right in the heart of the biggest shopping season.

At any rate I was sti happy with E3. Glad to see gameplay of titles we only had trailers of before, and very pleased with their VR partenerships as well. There is already more content coming to PS4 and PSVR than I have time or money to enjoy. I will always take more, but it is truly the best time in history to be a PlayStation gamer.
