Forums - Politics Discussion - Republican House Whip Steve Scalise, shot in Virginia mass shooting

The silence coming from the political left on this is deafening, considering how up in arms they were when a similar tragedy unfolded back in 2011 in which AZ Rep. Gabby Giffords was shot in the head and miraculously recovered, but several others weren't so fortunate. After that incident, the left criticized everyone from Sarah Palin to Fox News to every member of the "Tea Party" as being guilty of sowing the seeds of hatred against Obama and the Democrats. Even Bernie Sanders got in on the act at the time and slammed John McCain for not being more critical of his fellow Republicans and the right-wing in general.

Now the shoe is on the other foot, and today's shooter was a dyed-in-the-wool progressive BernieBro who had been feeding himself a steady diet of hate-filled anti-Trump, anti-Republican MSM propaganda going back several years, and took it upon himself to shoot anyone with an (R) next to their name this morning.

Could you even imagine how hysterical the hypocritical left wing in this country would be right now if in some alternate universe Clinton had been in office instead and the shooter been a disgruntled Trump supporter still pissed at the election results who decided to shoot up as many Democrats as he could??? Every single Republican / conservative / Trump voter / Fox News anchor / you name it would have been blamed for this guy's actions.

From what I can understand from the OP, it seems luckily no one has died as a result of the shooting. I hope all of the victims can make a quick recovery from their injuries.

The Second Amendment strikes again.

Bullshit! And I don't care if I get moderated for language.  Your statement is patently false.  Immediately many left wing politicians condemned this terrible act of violence, including Bernie Sanders himself.  That may not fit in with your fake news/lie to yourself and everyone else way of thinking, but it's true.  Look it up. And then come back in here and make a correction please.

I second this.

Does this even classify as a mass shooting? I believe Rand Paul said if the police officer didn't shoot at the gunman, it would be a mass shooting...

There's nothing to correct.  Nancy Pelosi and the usual suspects held a pretend Kumbaya moment shortly after the incident, and the reason Bernie himself was so quick to make a statement is because it came out that the shooter had direct ties to his campaign as a volunteer last year with a history of regurgitating left-wing talking points on social media, many of which are ripped straight from Bernie's campaign platform.  By this evening, most of the MSM family of newspapers and networks were back to leading with the Trump / Russia investigation like the shooting never happened. Again, just imagine the media feeding frenzy today if the guy was a former Trump campaigner who attempted to murder Democrats... you think a few statements by Trump and Congressional Republicans condemning the act would quell the media outcry after just half a day?

After a year and a half of the left wing media pushing the meme that Trump supporters were the violent ones promoting and carrying out violence against their political opponents going all the way back to the primaries, their narrative just blew up in their faces.

Umm, I don't think that's how the classification works, but I'm not sure what counts as a mass shooting. I know that a mass murderer kills at least 4 people, so I don't know if mass shooting equals 4 people shot or not.

Trump's popularity will increase as a result of every attack upon him and his followers.

All I was saying is, he knows more than me about the subject and I was just bringing him up as a point.
