Forums - Gaming Discussion - Has sea of thieves met its match with Ubisoft skull and bones?

https://youtu.be/77WzfvpBLLg

It it seems Ubisoft has decided to take the pieces from black flag and put them into skull and bones. As you well know black flag is is known for its innovation in bring popularity of the pirate battleship mini game. Now it's a full fledged experience beckoning to a larger audience. What do you think?

Met it's match? Lol. It's blown away by it. Skull and bones looks epic. Sea of thieves looks epically boring

Not even the same game. You never leave your ship in Skull and Bones. Also, it's more of a 5 on 5 PvP game. There's no exploration from the video I watched on it.

It makes mention that there will be a single player mode, but how in depth will it be For Honor single player or what?

I will say it is an extremely pretty game. But I don't care for multiplayer focused games all that much.

Am I the only one who feels the opposite? Skull and Bones just looks like AC4's boring naval missions.

Skull and bones pretty much only looks like ship combat. While sea of thieves has exploration, guests, map hunts and ship to ship pvp/pve.

So.. Similar but ultimately, no.

Yeah, I just looked at both the make sure I don't have an anti-Ubisoft bias. I don't. Skull and Bones looks incredibly shallow mechanically. Sea of Theives absolutely doesn't.

What the latter is comparable to is Lovers in a Dangerous Space Time. Mechanically, it's that game but in 3D and greatly expanded in scope.

The only disparity is that Skull and Bones looks better graphically, which as far as I'm concerned is completely irrelevant. Gameplay is king, and SkullnBones looks terrible in that regard. Sea of Theive's, by comparison, looks amazing. It's just not flashy.

They literally just took the ship combat from AC and made it a standalone game. Safe to say, it's not gonna be overwhelming. When they showed the boarding, it was just a cutscene, no swordfight or anything. The graphics may be nice and the ships might be varied, but it's not like it's gonna be a giant hit.

I don't think the OP has seen Sea of Theives footage.

No. They literally took the ship combat from AC and turning it into its own game. I played a lot of that between ACIII, ACIV, and AC:Rogue. I'm not really interested in a game built around just that.

Sea of Theives looks more like some MMO. Its not really comparable.

You should go play ACIII, ACIV, and AC:Rogue. It has this same combat with an actual adventure game built around it.

The fact that you never leave your ship in Skull and Bones is really lame to me. The best part about playing the role of a pirate is exploring islands and discovering things. This game just seems like an entire game around the naval battles in Black Flag. Sea of Thieves on the other hand looks cool.
