Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Metroid Prime 4 won't be developed by Retro Studios and i'm okay with that.

Metroid Prime 4 is supposedly not being made by Retro but by another team. I think this is actually good news because Retro needs to start working on their own IP and besides that, the original team that made the perfect Metroid Prime left Retro Studios a long time ago so we can expect Prime 4 to be a very different entry from Prime Trilogy whether that's a good or bad thing time will tell.

So the question is who is developing Prime 4? Mercury Steam? Team Ninja? Next Level Games??? I honestly don't like the outsourcing treatment Metroid gets all the time, I can understand the Prime series since Western developer's understand FPS better but the 2D remake was really not necessary to outsource especially not to Mercury Steam. Intelligent Systems remade their own game Fire Emblem Gaiden so why can't Nintendo remake their own Metroid game?

Anyway I'm happy Metroid is back I'll be getting both these games what are your thoughts?

I am fine with it. I will say it again. I been a fan since 1986. I would like to see that but at the same time this must mean Retro is working on something really big. So I get 2 cool things. Something new from Rae and Metroid Prime 4. There is really nothing to complain about. I am getting everything I wanted. To complain now would make me sound like a child having a tantrum.

Also we know who is developing the game. It's an internal team at Nintendo.

THANK GOD!!!

This skyrocket the chance that Retro is doing a new IP.Dont get me wrong, Retro would make an excellent Metroid game, but I am far more excited at the prospect of them doing something new(and what I suspect, something more on the realistic side of graphics) and thus opening up the type of genres that Nintendo has.Plus, the Switch needs more new IPs.The only one big new IP so far is ARMS(not counting Rabbids here because its still a Mario game spinoff)

I think until the end of the year, we see what that game is

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

That's because Retro Studios is probably making a new Donkey Kong game

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

I suppose this means a new trilogy where "Metroid Prime" brand more points to a first-person playstyle then a storyline.

Which seems to be a small reboot at the moment and perhaps a 4-5-6 trilogy coming up if it sells wel.
I'm game .

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

I'm fine with that as well.

I'm glad Retro Studios aren't working on Metroid because I don't think a lot of Metroid fans deserved a Metroid game from them considering how nasty they acted about it and towards Retro when they revealed they were working on Donkey Kong back at E3 2013.

Retro Studios CHOSE to work on Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze back on the Wii U but all a lot of people could do was bitch that it wasn't Metroid and that their "talent was being wasted" even though they WANTED to make another Donkey Kong game. They acted like Retro owed them a fucking Metroid game or some shit when Retro didn't owe them shit. They worked on the game they wanted to work on.

I mean even if it is revealed that they are working on a Metroid at some point in the future that's fine, hope the fans who didn't act like that enjoy it, but some of them don't deserve it lol.

I hope Retro Studios are working on a new IP.

I don't care who makes it, the end result is what matters.

As it's a new team and not a team with a horrifying history there's no reason to worry before seeing anything.

I'm not surprised they aren't making MP, I'm just surprised they didn't announce their game. They've had like more than 3 years since Tropical Freeze right?

Yeah I think their work on Tropical Freeze ended like late 2013, the game just released in February 2014 simply because Nintendo wanted to fill in a gap in releases that month. Someone can correct me if i'm wrong though.  I'm guessing it's a 2018 game considering all this time they've had and if it was 2017 then surely it would have been shown today.
