They didn't do shit though.

They gave Metroid II remake to a very questionable developer with a poor track record and just gave us a logo of Metroid Prime 4 with no footage, we don't even know who made it.

This doesn't bode well for the end-result of those games. As a Metroid fan I'm not happy. I'm starting to wish it was dead instead tbh. Now they're just ruining the reputation of a once great franchise.

Next Level Games also had a questionable track record before they partnered up with Nintendo -- in fact, their games typically sucked unless they were working on a Nintendo IP.

Do I need to remind you of Metroid Prime: Federation Force again?

And I didn't even like Luigi's Mansion, but a lot of people apparently do. That's the only game I ever bought from them.

No, because they knew there would be "fans"like you that would freak out and flip tables because there wouldnt be any Metroid on Switch. The same move was made about Pokemon and they saying that Relax, its comming to Switch.

That's different.

People were doubting that the Switch was the true successor to the 3DS and they were unsure if it would receive a main-line Pokémon game. They just reassured us. Main-line Pokémon games are never in doubt, they will keep churning those out because they sell incredibly well.

Metroid Prime 4 though, the uncertaintity is much higher with this one, we don't even know who's developing it. If it was Retro Studios I wouldn't have doubts, but now I do. If they can't show footage at least tell me who's behind it. Otherwise I'm not going to believe there's an actual game in development right now. Remember Star Fox Zero that was announced before Nintendo even found a developer for it? How did that turn out?

So yes, I'm worried, and I have every right to be.

Then be worried.Thats completely fine. But dont be an ass about it, be normal.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

nintendo should remake super metroid

The reality is that it's very possible that Nintendo has only just now begun development on the game. It's E3 and Nintendo needed to make some announcements. I'm impressed with what they managed to come up with, since it seemed like the Switch was sort of rushed out the door. I didn't imagine that they'd have so much up their sleeves.

Anyways, I've always been a fan of Nintendo, and the gens where they are on top are always very exciting. Fingers crossed.

Entitled gamers acting like these games just magically appear. Happy to see that Metroid Prime 4 is in development. Metroid 2 remake might get me to purchase a 3DS. Nintendo seems to be making a lot of great moves...no complaints here. What is Retro working on, though?

This.

Since Retro Studios is not working on neither of them, I really wonder what they are up to!

and this.

It's been almost 4 years and we've heard rumors of them expanding and creating a second team, so theres at least one game, if not two that should come out of them very soon. I'd have bet we would see their game this year, but nothing. Not complaining, it's just curiosity eating away at me.

I'm happy we're getting the two Metroids, though.

well since retro isn't doing metroid, I'd like for them finish out another donkey kong to complete the trilogy. I think they could do some wonderful things with switch and the HD rumble. then we can have a fair comparison of Rare vs Retro DK Country series.

We're the ones that buy and play the fucking games. God forbid we voice our opinions. If fans didn't complain like they did MP4 wouldn't even be in development right now.

I'm sorry but game developement is rarely hinged upon fan outcry.

Shadow of the Colossus? Final Fantasy VII Remake? Shenmue 3?

Oh man, that would be fantastic. For the reception they received, I don't see why they would pass up on doing another one. And if it's not too much to ask, the composer from Tropical Freeze would be great to have back.

Federation Force was doomed to fail the second they attached the Metroid IP to it.  It was a decent game that got destroyed because of its art direction and the fact that it wasn't Metroid Prime 4 or a 2D Metroid when everyone was still washing the bad taste of Other M out of their mouths.  Almost no one gave that game a fair shot.
