We should have seen it coming. Every mainline 3D Mario game has some fancy new gimmick that dramatically influences the way the game is designed and played. The hat was it this time.

Looks like I'll be getting a Switch this October.

when I first saw the hat thing a while back I was extremely concerned but now it actually looks like an extremely clever mechanic with the loads of possibilities it adds for more complicated puzzles and puzzle solving.

Also; how does Nintendo always have the most gorgeous looking games? jesus the animation in Mario Ody, Kirby 2018, Yoshi 2018, etc. look absolutely insane

This game just looks SO AMAZING and so FUN, I NEED to play it. It's everything I dreamed for a 3D Mario.

Btw, I loved that music in the trailer, I guess Pauline is the singer.

the only let down is that it seems it doesnt have multiplayer (i really loved 3d world because of that)

Same here! Playing Mario alone just doesn't feel right. 

Just watched it again, remove the vocals in the music, and the realistic dinosaur and actual humans in new york and you have a great trailer.

Now that's how you nail a trailer. 4 years ago I remember being severely underwhelmed by Mario 3D World. What a huge difference in ambition here. It's weird and freaky but so creative. I love it!

That music is just AMAZING.

This is looking like the best 3D Mario ever made, maybe tied with Galaxy, I need a Switch like right NOW.

This game and Breath of the Wild give me hope that the Nintendo I fell in love with, the Nintendo that crafted timeless, imaginative, inspired masterpieces like Mario Galaxy, Ocarina of Time, and Yoshi's Island, is finally back.
