Well the ambition of the Xenoblade series was never its story, Takahashi even said so himself in tbe XC Iwata Asks. My point remains the ambition seen in the series in prior installments is lacking here.

But your point is complete nonsense when one watches the demonstration. It's a titan that features the most standard setting in video games (grass world) and it looks vast and visually appealing. This game is deservingly called Xenoblade Chronicles 2 because it expands on what the first game was. XC didn't have a seamless sandbox, but the individual areas allowed for a lot of freeroaming and exploration. It looks like the individual areas in XC2 will be notably bigger and the kind of setting will allow for a much grander and better story than what XCX had, which is something that most fans of XC had an issue with.
The argument you push relies on a very selective and subjective definition of ambition. Yes, it's obvious that you don't like the game, but you have yet to provide any sort of tangible evidence for why this game falls short of either XC or XCX.

There's no evidence it surpasses it either, which is kind of the issue. WHile the first two games were able to clearly showcase its greatness and ambition, this one sadly doesn't. It looks like XC with XCX graphics, which isn't a bad thing, but it falls short when considering what the other two games were able to bring to the table.
And the whole choosing a monster to link with to get a new weapon is pretty crap IMHO, though I do realize it's only my opinion. It does mean you can change weapons though which is nice.
