I'm not ready yet to give a full score until Nintendo does their thing. But so far on the rough scale I rate MS as poor and SONY as average. I do have a feeling given Nintendo's track record they will probably be average or poor as well.

It was conflicting for me.
I really liked their last year's conference because it seemed to be filled with nothing but new information, either announcements or game footage, with duds (CoD, Skylanders) being masked by either really good presentation or by a previous mic-dropping announcement.
I never felt bored, in fact I felt ingaged.

This year's, while not bad, just felt like a succession of trailers, with new info shown for GoW, Days Gone, Spider-Man etc. but with stuff like Uncharted: Lost Legacy or CoD WW2 essentially being repeats.
Considering that the audience for these shows tends to be up to date sometimes to the last minute, lacking any new information in an announcement is sure to be dull to most.

Surprisingly, the feeling of being reeled from something I didn't know about to the next, this year was provided by Ubisoft of all, and it remains a solid showing to beat.
I mean look at how they presented Just Dance: a quick, absurd dance number, enough to keep you entertained, than release date and name. No duds, because as soon as people are dancing most know what's up.

Overall it felt solid, if unimpressive when compared to previous years showings.
They could have used something with more weight being presented.
Kind of puzzled by their reliance on a pre-show too, I would have gone gaga for the Undertale announcement.
7/10

Slightly better than the XB showing, but worse than Ubisoft. I didn't expect PS to try all that hard since they didn't require an earth shattering performance to stay on par, if not slightly outdo their main competition. Coming close to last years show was not going to be an easy task either. 7/10 is respectable.

I assume some of this has to do with the fact that PS clearly decided to show games coming soon, instead of years from now. It makes me wonder how many other soon to be released games they are just holding off for other shows this year, or how many may get delayed. Is it to keep a constant flow of game news until the holidays, as well as have backup against possible disruptive competitor news?
I also can't help but ponder if due to the quiet PS5 talk, that PS is either thinking of launching sooner than later, or if they are just unsure as of now, and don't want to announce any distant future games for PS4, that may potentially end up being PS5 exclusive maybe?

E3 as a whole so far has been quite "meh". Otherwise PS would have gotten a worse score than it did.

6.5-7/10 somewhere there. It could be because everything before it was underwhelming too so it kind of killed my mood before.

Like MS's show, it was good but not great. I rated it one point higher than MS's simply because it had more AAA exclusives than MS, but overall, both had a very meh showing. It felt like they held back their punches for another show.

1) I was expecting a ps+ announcement about the changes they were hinting at.

2) no price drops for vr or pro.

3) nothing from Sucker Punch

4) no Devil May Cry 5

5) nothing on Deep Down

6) no LoD

7) no updates on street fighter v

8) no software update for ps4

It felt like they could have announced things but they didn't. I think we might get more games being shown at another show closer to the launch of XOX or PSX maybe once they have got this year's releases out of the way. Even layden didn't wear his usual tshirts.

After haveing Slept on it....   Ubisoft >= Sony > MS > EA.

Ubisoft was a tiny bit better than sony's.
Sonys was better than Microsofts.
Microsofts was better than EA's.

I think sony tried to keep it short and sweet, but all the gameplay shown cut into it.
New announcements are better imo.

I think Nintendo has a good shot at winning E3.

1) That would definitely be PSX or an independent press release type announcement. Service changes and updates aren't usually good E3 material.
2) Not necessary. VR isn't even a year old yet and is selling well. Ditto with the Pro. The Xbox One X being $500 probably doesn't scare Sony much either.
3) Probably will be shown at PSX. It likely wasn't ready for E3 or may simply be slated for mid to late 2019, making an end of 2017 showing respectable.
4) Might be at Gamescom or even TGS. That's on Capcom and not Sony.
5) At least we know Deep Down lives, right?
6) Let's face it: if LoD is getting remade, that is prime PSX material. I don't think it's ever getting remade though, as much as I hope and dream.
7) I think Capcom already dropped the news about the Super Street Fighter V free update. Not much to say there.
8) Sony just makes all their updates PS Blog posts. Unless they plan on changing the UI entirely, that just isn't something to bring to E3.

Overall, I don't understand the feeling that Sony held back. It was a more reserved showing, sure, but it was a decision to hype the near future. There is so much coming out in 2018 already, almost all of their E3 conference was dedicated just to those games. Anything for late 2018 and further on is better shown at the PSX press conference. Sony's conference makes sense. A more reserved conference gives them more maneuvrability going forward. They sort of backed themselves into a corner between the past couple of E3 and PSX events and would have had nothing for PSX if they blew all their projects at E3 regardless of their current status.

Conference was alright imo.
Compared to the last few years it was definitely the worst one because it had not even one surprise. But I also have to admit that the last few E3 conferences were very strong from Sony and almost impossible to beat.
I really liked that they focused on showing their games, one trailer after the other and no unnecessary PR talking between them. I loved the footage they showed for their upcoming exclusive games (God of War, Spider-Man, Detroit: Become Human...). The lack of new game announcements really disappointed me though, but it's better for the developers to wait and develop their games instead of showing something in a very early stage completely different from what the end product would look like. I also think that the conference was very short. Too short imo.

6/10

5 out of 10. very disappointing.

Don't even mention EA please. Their conferences have been so bad the past few years I consider it a crime.
