i guess it was ok for MH to be Nintendo exclusive for 6 or 7 years, but a game on three platforms that doesn't include Nintendo is a problem. And this is all at a time when Nintendo are still getting an MH exclusive on the new console
get over it honestly

Ah I misunderstood. I still don't believe that, but it makes a lot more sense. So thank you. Can you imagine how much it would take to NOT releasing monster hunter in Japan on the switch? Surely can't have that much influence. Not to mention Nintendo at least in Japan should have far more influence there. Plus I believe they have more money than Playstation if comes to that. |
These rumors are several months old. There's more detail about this rumor in some of These threads about the MHW. If you want I could find these and message the link to you.
Are you sure that Nintendo's got more money than Sony? Can someone confirm this?

Persona 5 is available for my PS3. |
How good is it compared to the PS4 version? Haven't heard much of it.

You don't get it. It's not about not being on a Nintendo platform. It's about Capcom's own interest. MH sells MUCH better on handheld devices, and as such, a Switch version, especially after seeing how much of a wanted device it is.
Back when MH3 jumped ship to Wii and 3DS, there were sound reasons to do so. Market share. Money. Basically it is what has kept Capcom afloat for the past years. When they see sales struggle to reach 1m in Japan, they'll come back begging to Nintendo (maybe that's the reason they named it MHW instead of MH5, so they could backtrack if things go bad - also the reason Ninty claims Switch is a console; should it fail, they could just introduce a 3DS successor and say JUST KIDDING).

Suuuuuuuure....
So all these Nintendo fans care so much about capcom? Is that why lots of them are hoping this bombs just because Switch didnt get it?
Tell me this. If you cared so much about capcom why weren't all these Nintendo fans hoping capcom would release the 3DS exclusive MH on psp and Vita. Because that would be a cheap port that would have sold very well and been very profitable.

I would love that idea. More people playing my favorite series is never a bad thing. Hell, they could even cross-play it, and become gigantic. It would not subtract one bit from my experience with the game...
I personally hope Capcom really takes a hit from World, so that they might start to see things through a bit. MH sells on handhelds; this is almost a fact, backed by solid sales evidence. Not releasing a huge MH game on Switch is just bad business.
Another example: Nintendo fans love RE and all have got since the GC days are crappy spin-offs and ports. A RE7 port would surely sell millions. They just seem to randomly ignore financially sound stuff.
PS: On why I don't speak up about Sony not getting games from Capcom. They get an abundance of them, even if they lack MH. Meanwhile, Nintendo gets SF2 and gets the shaft on its only strong franchice from Capcom, MH. Kick in the nuts.

And why didn't Nintendo pay for it to be "Exclusive". Why didn't Microsoft pay to have it exclusive? If all it takes is money, Sony would be well behind both Nintendo AND Xbox. |
Yes on some sorts. Could be a marketing deal in the west and paying for exclusivity in Japan.
Sony has bargaining power aswell because of the isntall base in the west. That's my IMO but you never know.

And Nintendo could've made a proper home console to make it way easier for 3rd parties. But we can't always have what we want. The question isn't IF something can run on the Switch but if it is viable to torture your devs to port a game that is running perfectly fine on 3 different platforms but has to be modded heavily to fit on a tiny ARM platform. |
And I think this is going to be the crux of Nintendo's situation. Fans can not praise them for doing something different and in the same breath damn devs for not porting their games over to the Switch. You can't have it both ways. We're not only talking about different architectures, but a significantly underpowered HH device, when compared to the other two. And with devs now having to develop for two mid-gen systems, many are not going to take the time and money to figure out how exactly to run their games on what is, in terms of power, basically a suped-up Wii U.
And I have no idea what video people were watching, because Worlds looks great. Sure, it's not on the level of Horizon, but that's not an online multiplayer game. Worlds looks pretty damn good. I highly doubt a simple lowering of the resolution is all it's going to take to get that thing to run on the Switch. W also don't know if Nintendo's network is going to be up to task to support a game like this.
Basically, the Switch is going to have to prove itself before many devs are going to jump on board. It's going to have to have a great 1st year, while also showing that the 3rd party games that do come to it can actually sell.
Another thing to consider, is that by 2018, when this launches, that will be ~75M+ PS4 owners for them to sell to as opposed to maybe 13M+ Switch owners. 75M+ owners that have even made so called niche Japanese games sell 1M-2M+. I think Capcom sees the real potential there to branch this franchise out.
