Whats wrong with Xbox Live?  Live has the best network last time i checked.

Because it's a PC game, everyone wants it to use Steam Servers, not be locked to Windows Store.

Its the exact same game, doesnt play any different on Steam or Win10 haha.

Plus Live servers are better than Steam servers. Also Steam achievements suck in comparison to Xbox Achievements. Thats coming from a Steam user.

Im happy to keep MS games on a MS platform and 3rd party games on Steam.

Also what difference does it make on Steam or Windows Shop? They all play the same haha

No one likes or trusts Microsoft after all they've done to PC gaming, and everyone wants Steam to be their central online service. That's where everyone's friends, achievements, and other games are.

Sounds like you have personal issues with MS haha thats pretty sad

Honestly after the travesty that was AoE III though I think I'd rather just stick with with the remakes and HD updates, rather than have my heart broken again.

there's no excuse for AOE III though.... they should easily be able to make a new killer entry in the series so I don't want to give up hope on that. It's sad that the first two games, going on like 20 years old, have been unmatched in the genre (Imo)

excited for this though! hopefully they up the optimized population limits and add a bunch of new unit types, buildings, fun maps, online options. I could see some really fun online modes possible if they put some time into it!

hyped

Yeah true, hopefully they learned from the complaints, and tbh I was a bit harsh on AoE III, it wasn't a bad game by any means, but I feel like they tried to change aspects of the game that really didn't need to be tampered with, oh well. Hopefully we can get an AoE IV soon that will completely revamp the rts genre as a whole!

That's a really well reasoned reply. Oh wait, it's not. Can you provide some reasons for why people might want to use several services for the same thing, especially when one (Steam) is widely considered superior to the other (Xbox Live) among PC gamers. Can you also deny Microsoft's bad history with PC gaming? Can you claim there's widespread like or trust for what Microsoft has been doing recently for PC gaming?

I only played AoE II and the conqueror's expansion. How does the original AoE compare to AoE II?

It's set in a different age (stone age - ancient times, compared to the medieval times of AoE 2), so obviously the units and unit types are different. All together, it's probably slower-paced than AoE II, there's less technologies overall and no unique units for civilizations. The 12 civs themselves have bonuses and different tech trees though, which in turn enables or disables some of the otherwise regular units and enhancements. There's four different campaigns, although they're less fleshed out than the excellent story-driven campaigns of AoE 2. Well, it basically gives you everything in the briefing before the mission.

Aah, memories.

We already have 2 in HD, which looks basically as good as this, from years ago. This is completely unnecessary. They should make a fourth one with a brand new engine.

This is a serious question, Last time I played AOE was number 3 and it just felt stale and the same thing as the previous games.

Has it evolved enough since 3 for me to care to try it again?
