Forums - Gaming Discussion - Bethesda and the awful E3

I won't lie. For E3, I had my expectations in check for everyone. EA was nothing spectacular, Ubisoft was decent, and Microsoft felt bittersweet.

With Bethesda, I wasn't expecting much. It's not as though I wanted a new Fallout and Half-life 3 and 4 to be announced by them. You'd think that low standards from EA's e3 and reality checks would help, but in the end they still disappointed.

What seemed to be the most disappointing thing was their paid mods. What on earth are they attempting to do? This feels like a flop before it even releases. The PC community loves mods, but are they something players will fork cash over? Perhaps they are, perhaps not- I'm not knowledgeable enough to know.

I won't lie, it wasn't the worst show I've ever seen (that goes to Kinect and Nintendo 2008). They finally aren't showing games which are coming 20 years later, Wolfenstein II is intriguing, and the length of the show was reasonable. However, outside of what I mentioned, I can't help but not feel a bit underwhelmed.

Skyrim for Switch seems to add on the insult. Skyrim definitely was a legendary game when it released, but many open world games have surpassed it. Why doesn't Bethesda develop a new Elder Scrolls? Is the demand for a new one gone, or is there something that I am overlooking?

LMAO! I died!

I can agree with the Ubi conference. It's best when they don't say anything at all :P

Seriously, Bethesda, EA and MS conferences were awful. Boring. And not really exciting. Best "conference" was Devolver Digital one by miles lol.

I dont know why people hated MS one..... The pacing was wonderful. Games after games. Unlike EA one though.......

I enjoyed the pace, but I don't really have any interest on MS IPs so that presentation was never gonna be my cup of tea.

My biggest grudge was over timed exclusives. Show off the games you want, but don't say you have 22 exclusives when in reality it's 3-6 at most.

Er, indie, indie and indie. No thanks.

i wasnt expecting much out of bathesda this year to be honest. it was short, which was good since they didnt have much content to announce and it would have sucked if they dragged things out.

im only interested in Wolfenstein 2.

It was absolutely fine and that's what is exactly the problem.

It shouldn't be just fine. Considering the state of the market MS is in it should've been amazing with exciting exclusives thrown left and right. MS has the power to do this, remember the excitement over Scalebound or Phantom Dust? That's what they should be doing. Not just cater to the people who already own an Xbox or are planning to but trying to give people a reason to buy it who are not already within their own camp.

People rightfully expected more and were disappointed. It seems MS has already settled in their role as 3rd wheel of the gaming industry.
