Forums - Gaming Discussion - E3, MS' desperation/wise move, Nintendo's cowardice/cheapness, report card, etc. UPDATE!

Who will win E3?

Microsoft 29 13.06%

Someone else 6 2.70%

See results. 24 10.81%

Probably about 1% or less of people on this forum are going to E3, so why would you are whether your favorite company is showing up "behind" or "in front" of the camera?

Yeah not having a conference with 95% of stuff no one cares about or listen to is cheap and hiding.

Nintendo was really hiding last year......

If you pay attention in this video, there is a huge Nintendo logo sign hiding behind the Sega. Starts @00:17

Did you get your official Sony Pom Poms in the mail?

Sigh... so many triggered people posting trash. The OP has a right to his opinion and gave it. Gives yours or shut up. No one cares about you trying to discredit him and giving 0 input. Can we have a thread where it's not about fan wars and it's about E3? Seriously... i came here expecting a nice debate and theories and all i see is waste of time trash talk. Can we have a normal conversation without allowing fan views to completely cloud the ability to have a conversation? Rather than focus on the OP focus on giving your own opinion on events.

I'm so distated that i don't even feel like sharing my views but here we go.

I think MS is in trouble. I doubt scorpio will make a huge difference but they have to make it feel like it does. In general what led them to this point was arrogance and mismanagement. I think that to turn things around they have to review their overall strategy. They can't keep going like this. They need to show that they have first party power. Just a few IP's isn't enough for a first party.

Sony has nothing to lose. They can literally do whatever they want.

Nintendo really needs to show us how the switch isn't just another Wii U in terms of support. I don't think having a conference in the show is necessary. They are just admiting that they aren't very good at organising those and the edited directs work best for them.

I'd agree with you if it wasn't for that blasted title. As of the time of my post, it is:

"E3, MS' desperation/wise move, Nintendo's cowardice/cheapness, report card, etc. UPDATE!"

It's pretty obvious that Nintendo fans will tend to get drawn into the thread by the "corwardice/cheapness" part, and respond accordingly with that filter in mind. (It should also be obvious to everyone that this is an opinion, but the thread title has this gray area that is open for misinterpretation - hence people trying to "disprove" his opinion using purported facts, lol).

There's also his post history to keep in mind, which I won't delve too deeply into.

Mostly a good assesment; however I disagree on one thing about your opinion : nintendo's directs. Ninty WON E3 2014 cause of it, and did great in 2015 as well. Ninty doesn't need a press conferance. If anything they 'skipped' last E3 by NOT doing a direct.

About ninty droughts, that is going to be FAR less likly this gen because most of ninty's resources will go to switch and switch alone. We are basically going to have double the output from them.

Also one detail: sony is going to start to REALLY trail behind in japan. With there being no new handheld in sight, sony's gradp on the japanese market is going to plummet drastically. The ps4 was just a wii U competitor there trying to catch up untill it did... last october, when the switch was announced. In the portable dominated japanese market, it might just get most smaller japanese devs to switch over. After all where will all the vita games go, ps4? No.

"Ninty did great in 2015 as well"

Sorry, but no. That conference was freakin awful. That puppet thing was insanely dumb, and Starfox Zero was probably the worst game to head their show with. Everything else was basically just short trailers for games we already knew about, and some junk about Skylanders.

Yes, I agree. I actually stayed up and bothered to watch the 2015 Digital Event live, but all I got was trash.

And Nintendo didn't even entirely stick to their pledge that the games would be through the end of the fiscal year, iirc. SF0/Guard was April 2016.

Title made me laugh tbh. Nintendo hasn't sold me on Switch yet with only two games that interest me. Nintendo still may not win me over with E3. EA already lost E3 and it just started lol. Sony has my attention and the new DBZ game has my attention to and I'm not even a fan of DB. They better put in Android 17 lol.

Smells like a Sony fanboy...

Nintendo has played all their cards for the year. The Nintendo Direct will cover Splatoon 2, Pokken DX, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Ever Oasis, Hey Pikmin, Ultra Sun/Moon, Fire Emblem Warriors, and Super Mario Odyssey. Anybody expecting some big new announcement from them is going to be disappointed.

Microsoft will just be unveiling the Jaguar, er I mean Scorpio. The Scorpio will be the last Xbox console, and it will help MS quietly leave the console market over the next seven years. Anytime an Xbox fan complains about no Xbox 4, MS will just point out that the Scorpio was a new Xbox. By the time the Scorpio is truly obsolete by console standards it will be 2024 and MS will have moved the entire Xbox brand to "games as a service" nonsense.

Sony will be showing off all of their exclusives and possibly making a new announcement. They will probably try to sell people on Playstation Now, but I think that service is doomed. If Sony were to announce all PS4 exclusives coming to PS Now, that would be a disastrous E3 for them. MS already lost the console war by slowly giving up all their exclusives to PC. If Sony did the same, there would be no reason to get a PlayStation system outside of having physical DRM free games. But young people these days don't really care whether a game is digital or not.

It's quite moronic of Sony not to release the struggling PS Now in Europe, aka their strongest territory

So having the second largest reserved spot on the show floor and tournaments taking place at the E3 venue along with three days of live streams from said venue means Nintendo is skipping E3? What difference does it make that they announce their games in a pre-recorded presentation as opposed to a live stage show, so long as, you know, they announce games. The OP has an interesting logic. If anything it was bold (for better or for worse) for Nintendo to choose to do a pre-recorded show because they believe it is best for them as opposed to go with the rest of the pack and doing a live presentation.

EDIT: I should mention I am not convinced about Nintendo's chances at this this year's E3 largely because of the length of the main presentation, so I feel their presentation could range from being great if they skip the fluff,3DS stuff (perhaps save that for Treehouse), and make some major new announcements that people have been waiting for but the presentation can also be bad terrible if all they do is go over things they have already announced (which IMO is what they are unfortunatly going to do). However, my point in this comment was to refute the OP's assertion that Nintendo will not have any presence at E3.
