Im far from confused. What your missing out on is next gen games still have to be optimized for low end PCs. Regardless of the prefermormance of next gen consoles, Devs will be still aiming for the middle ground. If your talking 1st party console exclusives than maybe not since they will use next gen hardware at its fullest.

I am basing this off if next gen arrives in the next couple of years.

If your saying Ryzen isnt going to be as powerful as the low end PC CPUs than you have anwsered the question yourself. I doubt next gen is going to be as big of a jump in preformance compared to 7th gen to 8th gen.

But low end PCs, as far as CPUs go will have similar performance to the cpu of xbox 2/ps5... So that isn't going to matter.

I don't think you realize how weak the jag cpus are... A jump to Ryzen would still be powerful enough to make the jags not be able to keep up even if the Ryzen cpus aren't anywhere near as powerful as i5s because that's exactly how weak jag cpus are... I think you are way overestimating how powerful the jags are...

I know Jags suck. However my statment isnt if it can run next gen fine. Sacifices have to be made to do so. If next gen is 4k standard than X1X reducing to 1080p frees up alot of stress and if it has to halve the framerate than anything is possible. Also i dont believe next gen is going for another big leap. XB2 most likely be an upgraded Scorpio. I am sure next gen will be a 4k era so kiss alot of those preformance numbers goodbye because thats where most of the resources will go.

PS5/NXB1 will be the cheapest ways to play those games, duh.

No, they need to hard drop Gen8 when PS5/Xwhatever come out. Fully BC because of x86, but PLEASE don't cripple devs by hamstringing them to Jaguar performance levels when considering AI, gamescale, etc. That would be a trash move. We're already seeing a regular cascade of major titles where they are 60fps+ on a modest PC CPU and 30fps on console, and that WILL include the 2.3Ghz Jaguar in the X1X, just like the 2.1Ghz Jaguar in the PS4P.

Just cauterize this gen and let it go. That's not to say that devs can't do some scaled back Gen8 variants for the first 12-24 months of Gen9. Think Shadow of Morder PS360 vs PS4/X1. Same game, but obviously they scaled things up a bit for the Gen8 consoles instead of being forced to cram things into the ~512MB of Gen7.

512MB was the crippling weakness of Gen7.
Jaguar 1.6-2.3Ghz cores are the crippling weakness of Gen8.

PS4P/X1X are like if Sony had brought out PS3Pro in 2011 with a better GPU and faster Cell, but still 512MB ram. Better than OG, but still kind of pointless in the big picture because it leaves the worst limitation intact.

Ram is not the limiting factor of Gen8
GPU isn't even the limiting factor Gen8, games like HZD and hell even Ryse are beautiful to look at even at 900/1080.
CPU is the crippling factor. Period.

Switching between 30FPS and 60FPS or better for the same game is a night and day experience. 30FPS can be 'fine'. With an exceptional game it can even be 'great'. But 60FPS+ is just awesome, and can make transitioning back difficult.

But the issue is, you aren't telling me how... Saying, oh just dial down the settings isn't a good enough excuse because the next gen games will take full advantage of ryzen based cpus just like how they take full advantage of the jag cpus to squeeze every bit of power from them. And when they do that, I don't see how the jags will be able to keep up... Also most games next gen will also be running at 30fps (just like in most other generations) and reducing 4k to 1080p does nothing for the CPU. Reducing resolution only helps the GPU. And don't forget that MS is marketing Scorpio as a 4k machine so all of a sudden, going back to 1080p only for Scorpio would be pretty wtf for MS.

Anyway, we are going around in circles and I havn't seen you really have any solid evidence to say the next generation will break the trend that has been happening for every other generation when the next gen comes around. My evidence comes from how console optimization works with baseline hardware + Ryzen numbers provided by Amd themselves.

So due to those reasons, this will be my last reply.
