I have to agree.
Tekken 3 is one of the most important games I've played in my life. I fell in love with the franchise and with fighting games. I couldn't wait to play 4, 5 and 6. 6 even had multiplayer! I was ecstatic. All that enthusiasm went out of the window as soon as I started playing online. I didn't like getting beat by guys who were more skilled than myself but I absolutely hated playing against guys who would pull the same trick over and over again (King would grab me over and over again, not letting me play at all), just because I didn't know how to block it. It sucked all the fun out of the game for me.
Same thing happened with Naruto:Ultimate Ninja Storm 2. Loved the game and then went to play online, only to see everyone using Deidara and the fight becoming a spamfest. Out of every 10 players I would face, 8 would be spammers and fighting them was no fun for me. Later on, I found out that there was a way to counter their attack, but that's besides the point. If it ain't fun, it ain't fun. What's the point of spamming or pulling cheap tricks? You won an internet fight! Well done, here's a cookie or something.
I play volleyball and my serves are pretty good. When I play against a weak team and it's a friendly match, I don't use any cheap tricks or my most effective technique because then we end up beating the other team, but without most people actually playing the sport. It just ain't fun. So if you don't wanna be an asshole, try to win differently. Or let the other person have some enjoyment playing against you.
